The EV space is quickly catching steam in India. Charging infrastructure is being rapidly developed, which shows that we are moving in the right direction. Four-wheeler and two-wheeler markets are equally important in the country. So, for revolutionising this space, both markets need to quickly adapt to the technology of the future. Currently, the EV tech is a bit on the expensive side, but with quick advancement, we are going to see more affordable electric vehicles soon. Hero MotoCorp

Hero electric bike

Hero, the biggest two-wheeler manufacturer in India had already sensed the change in the technology of the future. They have already revealed various electric products at multiple Auto Expos. They are expected to launch electric scooters like the Hero Electric AE-29, AE-3 e-Trike, AE-75, AE-8 and electric bike named Electric AE-47. These electric vehicles will come with a range ranging from 80km to 150 Km. 

Honda Two-wheeler

Honda is also expected to join the two-wheeler EV market in the country. It is expected to launch the Benly e scooter. Honda might also bring the electric version of its popular Activa in the future.

TVS Motor Company

TVS Creon

TVS has already launched its i-Qube in the EV space. The brand is expected to launch an electric scooter based on its Creon concept in the coming time. The Creon-based scooter will have a range of 100km and a top speed of 80km/h. 

Ola Scooter

Ola has shown an aggressive push in the EV space with its scooter. Ola is also looking to set up a large scale charging infrastructure. The Ola scooter is expected to disrupt the entire segment. Okinawa Scooters

Okinawa is looking to establish itself in the EV space. The brand already has the i-Praise and is now looking to launch a maxi-scooter, expected to be called Cruiser. This one will come with a range of 80km to 100km and will take around two to three hours to charge. 

Simple EV

Upcoming affordable electric vehicles

Simple is a new manufacturer looking to enter this lucrative space.  It will be launching the Simple One soon. It is expected to have a range of 240 km. 

Mahindra

The Mahindra eKUV100 will be the most affordable electric SUV in the country. This will be followed by Mahindra launching the eXUV300 to compete with the Nexon EV. Post these, Mahindra will focus on two new EVs, codenamed Born EV1 and Born EV2 and prepare them to launch by 2026.

Tata

Tata currently is dominating the EV car market with its Nexon EV. It is expected to continue its momentum with the launch of Altroz EV. Tata had showcased the Altroz EV at Auto Expo 2020. Tata might also bring the Tiago and the iconic Sierra in an electric avatar.

Maruti-Suzuki & Toyota

Maruti-Suzuki, considering its position as the market leader, will be a bit late to the change. Maruti was expected to launch the WagonR EV but will launch this car only when the charging infrastructure is developed properly. Maruti-Suzuki and Toyota are working together to develop an EV. 

Skoda

Upcoming affordable electric vehicles

Skoda is taking the Indian market seriously via its Project 2.0. It is expected to bring the Enyaq iV SUV and a smaller model that’s set to make a crossover. Skoda is also looking to bring a mass-market EV for India by 2023. If this car comes under Rs 50 lakhs to India it will be a good option for buyers of premium buyers.

Kia

MG Motors

MG ZS ev

MG is doing good with its ZS EV and is looking to expand on it by launching a cheaper Nexon EV rival by 2023.

Renault

Renault will bring the Zoe to India. It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Renault will also bring the K-ZE, which is an electric version of the Kwid to India. To be affordable in India, this will have to locally assembled or manufactured.
