Driving in India can be a stressful job. The major reason for this is our crowded streets and traffic. To address this issue, manufacturers are looking to make more compact cars. Last month Tata unveiled their new compact car, the Punch. Recently, Citreon also unveiled their new compact car, the C3. In today’s article on Citreon C3 vs Tata Punch, we will be comparing these two upcoming cars.

Design

The C3 follows Citroen’s quirky design language. The C3 gets a neat DRL setup that integrates with the grille. Other exterior features include an upright bonnet and high-raked windshield. The interiors continue the quirky design language with coloured dashboards.

Tata Punch

The Punch takes design characteristics from other Tata SUVs. It gets eyebrow DRLs with the main headlight cluster below it, similar to the Harrier and Safari. The front bumpers come with Tata’s signature tri-arrow elements. At the rear, it gets tri-arrow themed wrap around taillamps. The interiors on the Punch are inspired by the Tata Altroz.

Citroen C3 vs Tata Punch specifications

2020 Tata Altroz engine

The Punch is based on Tata’s Alfa-Arc platform. Its exact dimensions are not known yet, but we expect it to be somewhere between 3800mm to 3900mm in length. Coming to the engine, it will be powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron engine. A 1.2-litre turbo-petrol is also expected to be on offer. Gearbox options will include a manual and an AMT gearbox.

The C3 is based on the CMP modular platform. Citroen has already revealed that the C3 will be 3980mm long. Citroen has not revealed the engines, but it is expected to get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit. It will come mated to a five-speed manual as well as an automatic gearbox.

Citroen C3 vs Tata Punch features

The Punch will offer a floating touchscreen, adjustable headrests, rectangular AC vents, premium sound system, semi-digital instrument cluster, ABS with EBD, etc. Features like a cooled glovebox, a basic version of iRA connected car tech and ISOFIX are also expected to be made available with the car.

The Citroen C3 will get features like a 10-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, wireless charging, manual AC and a multi-function steering wheel. A mobile holder will also be made available in the cabin for added convenience.

Launch & pricing

Both the C3 and the Punch have been partially revealed. Tata is set to officially unveil the car on 4th October. We expect the cars to be launched in the coming months. Both the brands are expected to price their cars competitively. The Punch will be positioned above the Altroz in Tata’s lineup.
