The Jimny is expected to be 3850mm in length, 1645mm in width and 1730mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2550mm and has a ground clearance of 210mm. The Jimny coming to India will be the 5-door version.

The Thar comes with a petrol and diesel engine. The petrol variant is powered by a 2.0-litre engine capable of producing 150bhp and 300Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 2.2-litre capable of producing 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both the engines come with manual and automatic gearboxes. 

Mahindra Thar

The Jimny will most probably be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine used in other Maruti cars like the Brezza and Ertiga. The engine is expected to produce 101bhp and 130Nm of torque. This unit will come paired with a manual and an automatic gearbox.

The Thar comes loaded with comfort features. It comes with features like a touchscreen infotainment system, 4-wheel drive, 18-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, multi-function steering wheel, auto AC, TPMS, connected car tech and brake locking differential. 

Jimny

The Jimny is also expected to get some comfort features. It will get a basic 4WD, touchscreen infotainment system, hill descent control, hill hold, ABS + EBD, LED projector and headlamps.

The pricing of the Thar starts from Rs 15.42 lakh and goes to Rs 18.42 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We expect Maruti to price the Jimny aggressively against the Thar as the Thar is better in all aspects. It is expected to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
