The seven-seater market has been quite active in the past few months. MG launched the Hector Plus, then Tata launched its Safari, then Hyundai launched the Alcazar and now Mahindra has unveiled the XUV700. The XUV700 was one of the most anticipated cars in this segment. Mahindra took their own sweet time to launch it, but now that it’s here it is expected to disrupt the market. As mentioned above, it will compete with the Hyundai Alcazar.  In today’s article, we will be looking at a basic comparison between the Mahindra XUV700 vs Hyundai Alcazar.

The Alcazar is based on the Hyundai Creta. It gets a similar front design with a chrome grill in the middle. The side and rear profile, though, have been changed to give it a unique identity over the Creta. Other exterior features are an LED headlamp, 18-inch diamond-cut alloys, LED taillamps, rear spoiler, sporty twin exhaust and a shark fin antenna. On the inside, the Alcazar gives a premium cabin experience.  It gets dual-tone Cognac-brown seats,  64-colour ambient lighting setup, air purifier, electric parking brake with Auto Hold and a panoramic sunroof.

The XUV700 resembles a bit the outgoing XUV500. It gets a masculine bonnet with signature Mahindra grille, new logo, C-shaped DRL setup with LED headlamps,  shark fin antenna, spoiler with huge winglets and muscular fenders. On the inside, the XUV700 gets a spacious interior with features like a panoramic sunroof, D-cut multi-function steering, 360-surround sound system and a fully digital instrument cluster. 

Specifications

The Alcazar is 4500mm in length, 1790mm in width and 1675mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2760mm and has a ground clearance of 200mm. It comes in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The Alcazar comes with a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine is capable of producing 156bhp and 191Nm of torque. The diesel engine is capable of producing 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both the engines come with manual and automatic gearboxes. 

The XUV700 is 4695mm in length, 1890mm in width & 1755mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2750mm. It comes in 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. The XUV700 gets a 2.0-litre petrol engine capable of producing 200bhp and 380Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 2.2-litre engine capable of producing 185bhp and 450nm of torque. It comes with a manual and an automatic gearbox. The car will get AWD with select variants.

The Alcazar comes loaded with features like connected car tech, wireless charging in 1st & 2nd-row, a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, a big touchscreen infotainment system, 64-colour ambient lighting, paddle shifters and front-row ventilated seats.

The XUV700 comes with features like an advanced driver-assistance system (level 1), Auto Booster headlamps, personalized safety alerts,  wireless charging, drive modes, 360-degree parking camera,  Driver Drowsiness Detection and AdrenoX powered by Amazon.

The Hyundai Alcazar is 19.43 lakh and goes to Rs 24.35 lakh(on-road, Mumbai). Mahindra has only revealed the 5-seater variant pricing, which starts from Rs 11.99 lakh goes to Rs 14.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Check out our story below for all details on the variants for this car.
