The Mahindra XUV700 was one of the most hotly anticipated cars in the Indian car market. Now, after months of regular spy shots and leaks, Mahindra has finally unveiled the XUV700. The Mahindra XUV700 unveiled comes with lots of segment-first features revolutionizing this segment. The brand has also announced its variants line-up too. In this article, we will discuss everything we now know about the Mahindra XUV700. Lets take a closer look.

Exterior

The design of the XUV700 is inspired by the outgoing XUV500. The car gets C-shaped DRL with integrated LED headlamps. The grille gets black inserts with the new Mahindra logo in the middle. Flush ‘smart’ door handles make the design look neat. At the rear, it gets arrowhead LED tail lights. Other exterior features are a long masculine bonnet, huge wrap-around tail lamps, shark fin antenna, spoiler with huge winglets and muscular fenders. There are certain aspects of the cars design that hark back to the XUV500.

Interiors

Coming to the interior front,  the XUV700 comes with a big infotainment system, D-cut multi-function steering wheel, ventilated seats, a biggest-in-segment panoramic sunroof (Skyroof),  360-degree sound surround system from Sony and captain seats. Mahindra has partnered with Amazon to provide built-in Alexa functionality for hands-free access to entertainment, information and offline vehicle control.

Specifications

The Mahindra XUV700 unveiled looks impressive but the cars dimensions like its length, width and height It sits on a wheelbase of mm and has a ground clearance of 2750mm. The XUV700 comes with the most powerful engine option in this segment.  It comes with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre turbo engine capable of producing 200bhp and 380 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is a 2.2-litre mHawk engine capable of producing 185bhp and 450 Nm of torque. Both engines comes with a manual and a torque converter gearbox plus the diesel engine gets the option of all-wheel drive.

Features & safety

The XUV700 comes with segment-first features like an ADAS system,  AdrenoX, driving modes, voice assists, air purifier, wireless charging, 360-degree parking camera, panoramic Sunroof and all-wheel-drive option. On the safety front, the XUV700 gets seven airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Traction Control, ESP, hill descent control, all-disc brakes, electronic parking brake, Driver Drowsiness Detection and personalised safety alerts.

Safety is one of the core pillars of the XUV700 with many new features like:

  • The XUV700 comes equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) which includes, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Brakes Using both camera and radar FCW will warn of a possible collision and if you don’t react the AEB system is designed to automatically apply the brakes. ADAS system also features: Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive cruise Control, Smart Pilot Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and High Beam Assist.
  • Apart from that the XUV700 comes with Driver Drowsiness Detection which nudges the driver in case he is feeling drowsy.
  • The Auto Booster Headlamp switches on automatically when the vehicle exceeds 80km/h at night and auto high beam assist at disable mode, increasing visibility and therefore making the driving experience safer.
  • Another unique function in the XUV700 is the Personalised Safety Alert which alerts the driver if he exceeds a set speed. It can be programmed to sound out in the voice of a loved one.
  • The XUV700 comes with 7 airbags which includes curtain airbags (extending up to 3rd row occupants), driver knee airbags, driver side airbag and passenger side airbag keeping up with its safety promise, in addition to standard dual frontal a Apart from that XUV700 comes with driver seat-belt lap pre-tensioner in addition to standard seat-belt retractor pre-tensioner for driver and co-driver. Anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) is also standard.
  • The XUV700 crashworthy structure is designed to protect occupant in case of collisions. Additionally, XUV700 equipped with frontal and side crash sensors for robust airbag deployment.

The Mahindra XUV700 unveiled will come  with four variants. Below are the tables for MX Series and AdrenoX – AX series. As we can see here the car comes with 18-inch tyres, ADAS, dual zone climate control and many other features on the top variant – AX7.
