MG Motors has been quick to expand in the country. The brand has its presence in the mid-size SUV segment, EV segment and full-size SUV segment. A product like the MG Hector has been doing really well in its respective segment. MG ZS EV has been quick to enter the EV revolution in the country, clearly putting forth MGs ideology regarding the vehicles of the future. The brand has been taking the Indian car market seriously. Taking this into consideration, MG has made future plans for the country. In today’s article, we will look at future plans of MG for India.

MG CAAP

MG future plans

MG has been putting its foot forward in terms of technology development. The brand has recently teased its upcoming concept of CAAP (Car as a Platform). The complete CAAP ecosystem will involve multiple in-car services & subscriptions that will be focused on domains like utility, entertainment, payment, security, insurance, etc. The CAAP system will be developed with help of technologies including Blockchain, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. The system is being established to support the on-demand in-car needs of customers. Similar to previous technologies that MG has brought to the country, CAAP will also be introduced in the country in the coming time.

MG Astor

MG future plans

MG will soon be entering the C-segment space in the country. The Astor is the brand’s next major product for Indian customers. The car will take on competitors like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, etc. MG will load the car with features. Along with this, the brand will be looking to undercut the competition with its very aggressive pricing.

MG sub-four-metre EV

MG future plans

As mentioned above, MG already has a product in the electric space here. However, the ZS EV is a costly affair when compared to a cheaper alternative like the Tata Nexon. This has been robbing the ZS EV of its deserved sales. Understanding this void, the brand is planning to bring a cheaper electric car in order to target the Nexon EV. We expect the next EV from MG to be a sub-four-metre offering, similar to the Nexon EV. MG is expected to give a tough fight to its rival by offering better range figures.

New MG cars

MG is planning to launch a sub-four-metre SUV in the coming time. With the compact SUV segment already filled with cars, it would be interesting to see what MG does differently here. We expect MG to load the car with a few segment-first features that will help it take on other rivals. Moreover, the pricing is expected to be kept competitive in order to enhance the value-for-money quotient. Apart from a compact SUV, the brand will also be planning to bring in an MPV, using the compact SUV’s platform.
