Skoda and Volkswagen have been working on several new products; cars like the Kushaq, Taigun and the upcoming Virtus and Slavia being some of them. With this product line-up, Skoda and Volkswagen are moving in the right direction. Volkswagen is also evaluating to replace the Polo with its new generation, which will be localised. If Volkswagen does release the new Polo, Skoda may bring Fabia to India as they have no cars in the hatchback segment. It could help Skoda attract new consumers. If Skoda brings Fabia to India, it will be based on Skoda’s India-specific platform, the MQB-AO-IN. It will also shorten its length to 3995mm or 3985mm to comply with the sub-4 meter rule. The rest of the design language should remain the same. The Fabia will borrow a lot of its features from the Kushaq and the upcoming Slavia. The Fabia will come with a 1.0-litre turbo and a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine. Mostly the 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated will get a performance update for better performance. It is unlikely that Skoda will give the 1.5-litre TSI engine to this car in India.
