Skoda launched the Kushaq under its India 2.0 strategy on the 28th of June. The car although takes direct competition from cars like the Hyundai Creta, the Kia Seltos, the Nissan Kicks and the Renault Duster. Hector, on the other hand, is offered with 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, 1.5-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol engine and 2.0-litre diesel engine. The 1.5-litre petrol units make 143bhp & 250Nm of torque, whereas the diesel unit makes 170bhp & 350Nm of torque. The petrol unit comes mated to manual, CVT and DCT gearboxes. The petrol (with mild hybrid technology) & diesel units come mated to the manual gearbox only. This car comes sat on 17 & 18-inch wheels depending on trim.

The MG Hector presents a better case for itself in every aspect when compared to the Skoda Kushaq. Hector offers better space, more features and powerful engines. Buyers looking to consider Kushaq’s 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit just for its power can save a significant amount of money (close to Rs 3.5 lakhs) as the base variant of the Hector offers almost equivalent power with its 1.5-litre petrol engine. Also, the Hector offers diesel engine options which the Kushaq sadly misses. Contrary to all of this, the Kushaq becomes a great choice for customers who are looking for an automatic car. Kushaq starts offering automatic gearbox at Rs 16.63 lakhs whereas the base automatic variant of the MG Hector comes in at Rs 19.76 lakhs. Thus, the actual value of the car will depend on the configuration & features that you opt for. From a pure driving and build quality perspective, the Kushaq is a better car!
