Skoda has been quick on its feet to expand its portfolio in the country. The brand had launched its premium sedan, the Octavia in the country 3 weeks ago. This week, the brand launched its much-awaited Kushaq. This C-segment SUV would take on products like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster. We have written an article specifically on the Kushaq which you can read by clicking on the link below. After Kushaq’s recent launch, the brand has already set its eyes on the next SUV that it has planned for the country. In today’s article, we will look at this new Skoda SUV that is coming after the Kushaq and also explore what this SUV could come with.

Skoda Kushaq vs Rivals – Pricing & Variants

What is the new Skoda SUV that we are talking about?

New Skoda SUV

We are talking about the new Skoda Kodiaq here. The car was discontinued from the Indian market after the strict BS6 norms were brought into action. Now, the brand is ready with an updated Kodiaq which will come with BS6-compliant engines. Skoda, in the foreign markets, updated the Kodiaq with a facelift this year. We expect the brand to bring the updated car here. The car is expected to launch by the end of this year, somewhere around the unveiling of the brand’s upcoming mid-size sedan, the Slavia. The Slavia was spotted recently, and we had covered that story for you. The article for the same is linked below.

What new could the car come with?

The updated Skoda Kodiaq gets reworked headlamps, new tail lamps, new front & rear bumpers, a new spoiler and new alloys. The rear fascia looks more sporty now, giving the Kodiaq a premium-yet-stylish appeal. The car gets updated interiors as well. The slightly reworked dashboard now looks sleeker, complemented by a reworked centre console. The physical knobs for the infotainment system have been removed, integrating the functions within the system itself. The car gets Skoda’s new 2-spoke steering wheel, a fully digital instrument cluster (Virtual Cockpit), new sporty pedals, ambient lighting, connected car tech and new seating & upholstery.

We expect Skoda to bring the Kodiaq with the same 2.0-litre TSI engine that powers the new Octavia and the Superb. This engine makes 187bhp and 320Nm of torque. The petrol engine will come mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The car is mostly expected to come with an AWD system as well. With that being said, we do not expect a diesel engine to make a return with the Kodiaq.

Skoda to also bring a performance-focused Skoda Kodiaq?

Skoda sells a performance-focused variant of the Kodiaq, called the ‘Kodiaq RS’ in foreign markets. This variant comes powered by a 2.0-litre TSI engine which is capable of producing 242bhp. The Kodiaq RS could be a great option for prospective buyers looking for a performance SUV but do not have the budget to go for products from other brands like BMW, Audi, Lamborghini, etc. This could really well fit in the market as a budget performance SUV. As of now, we do not have any official information from the brand regarding this but we really wish Skoda brings it here.
