Hyundai Alcazar is the latest entrant in the premium 7-seater segment in the country. The car faces competition from products like the MG Hector Plus and the Tata Safari that directly fall in its segment. With that being said, there are many products that might not be in direct competition with the Alcazar but fall in its price bracket. Also, there are products that the Alcazar faces within Hyundai itself. The Alcazar which was launched on 18th June has managed to beat six products in Hyundai’s line-up when it comes to sales numbers. Hyundai sold 2181 units of the Verna in June. Sedans have been slowly losing traction in the country due to the plethora of SUVs available in the market. Hyundai Verna is undoubtedly a good sedan but the above-mentioned point plays a significant role in this case. Also, the Verna goes up to Rs 18.27 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Extending the budget by a bit gets the buyer a 7-seater SUV which gets more features as well as more powerful engine options.
Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai Tucson is the costliest car in the brand’s stable as of now. The car although being a premium 5-seater (with available 4X4) fails to present a better value-for-money case for itself when compared to the Alcazar as well as other cars in its competition. Hyundai sold 85 units of Tucson in June.
Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai Elantra shares the same dilemma as the Hyundai Verna. Alcazar gets the same engine options but presents a much better case for itself by being an all-rounder when it comes to value-for-money. Hyundai sold 29 units of the Elantra in June.
Hyundai Kona Electric
Hyundai Kona Electric is the brand’s first attempt in the country when it comes to EVs. The Kona Electric has however not been able to do the magic for Hyundai due to a couple of reasons. First, the car comes with fewer features when compared to the cars in its competition as well as the Alcazar. Second, the car being a costly affair does not return the value for the money that it asks for. Hyundai sold 7 units of the Kona in the month of June.
Hyundai Santro
Hyundai Santro is an entry-level hatchback from Hyundai. The car, however, fails to compete with the tough competition from brands like Maruti and Tata, which present a better VFM case with their cars. Hyundai sold 2039 units of the Santro in the month of June.
