Features
Hyundai Rs 5 lakh SUV will have the most features in its segment. As of now if we take a look at the Maruti SPresso, it comes with a bare minimum of features that are required on a car. The Hyundai SUV will be priced higher than the SPresso and this higher price will also translate into better features and quality of materials. It will have the best in class touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The AX1 would also feature a rearview camera, wireless charging, and keyless entry. It would also have the best sound system in its class. It will get a lot of these features from the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
Engine
We are expecting Hyundai to offer a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine on the AX1. They could also offer the 1.1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which is seen on the Hyundai Santro. The smaller engine could help in keeping the cost low and thereby making a low entry point in the market. Internationally it is expected that the Hyundai AX1 would also get a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
What is known?
Hyundai Rs 5 lakh SUV will have a flat bonnet and a split headlight design like we see on the Hyundai Venue. The headlight unit will be circular and have a LED DRL ring around it. This information has been gathered based on teasers that have been released and leaked. At the rear, the AX1 is expected to have split light clusters. These will have the position of the secondary light on the bumper. The rear tail light which will have the brake light will have a triangular pattern created by LED lights. In some ways, the car will remind us of a smaller Hyundai Venue.
Rivals
The Hyundai AX1 will rival the Tata HBX micro SUV that is expected in the Indian market soon. It could also compete with the Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100. As mentioned above in terms of price the Hyundai Rs 5 lakh SUV will also compete with the Maruti SPresso which is a smaller car but comes at around Rs 5 lakh.
