Tata Motors has been playing its cards strategically for quite some time now. The brand revived itself and created a portfolio of successful products ranging from Tiago to Harrier. This year, the brand brought back its most celebrated SUV nameplate, the Safari. The car came back to life in a modern avatar, blending lineage with the present trends. The Safari now comes powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that makes 168bhp and 350Nm of torque across all variants. This shows that Tata has kept difference in variants with other aspects of the car. In this article, we will discuss the best variant of the 2021 Tata Safari that you should buy if you are keen on modifying it further.

Which to buy – Tata Safari or Toyota Innova Crysta?

Exterior

On the exterior front, the XMA variant comes with DRLs, projector headlamps, roof rails (functional), front fog lamps and 16-inch steel rims. For modifications, the buyers can switch from steel rims to alloy wheels of their choice. Moreover, changing to bigger tyres is also an option. Buyers can easily switch from 16-inch steel rims to 18-inch alloy wheels. Other than this, with projector headlamps already present, switching to Xenon HID lamps can give the car a look similar to the higher variants of the Safari. However, the major benefit of all is the availability of functional roof rails. Due to the absence of a sunroof, the roof becomes capable of bearing a load of up to 75kgs. This means that users can install carriers on top. Moreover, off-roading lamps can also be installed, giving it a much meaner look, similar to what the original Safari sported.

Coming to the interiors, the car gets 7-seater capacity, meaning the 2nd-row seats are bench type. Moreover, the 3rd-row seats support a 50:50 split, meaning if only 5 to 6 passengers occupy the car, the rest space can be used for luggage carrying. Other than this, the interior gets elements like ‘Boss Mode’, height-adjustable driver seat, tilt & telescopic adjustable multi-function steering wheel and power windows. The car also gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which comes coupled with a 6-speaker sound system. For buyers who are keen on enhancing the sound quality of the cabin can upgrade to branded speakers. Also, the car gets necessary cabin elements like 3rd-row AC vents and 2nd & 3rd-row charging ports.

The car does offer many important features whose functionality can be further extended according to the customer’s preference. Reverse parking sensors, remote central locking, rear washer wiper, electrically adjustable ORVMs, driving modes, dual airbags, all-disc brakes and other important safety features like traction control, rollover mitigation, hill hold control, etc. With the above-mentioned features, the car can be modified according to user preference. For instance, the car offers a touchscreen infotainment system. Due to the presence of this, users can add a reverse parking camera as well which will directly be linked to the cabin display. Moreover, users can even externally add missing features like TPMS, auto-dimming IRVMs and cruise control (available for some cars in the aftermarket).

Which category of buyer should choose this variant?

The XMA variant is suitable for people who do not care for all the bells & whistles that a product has to offer but are more focused on the practicality on offer. The XMA variant comes with an automatic transmission meaning you get the added convenience while driving a big SUV. Moreover, as mentioned above, a functional roof opens a new world of exterior modifications. Also, the presence of useful features like a touchscreen infotainment system adds to the convenience of possible future modifications as already mentioned above.

  • Hi..
As you said “users can add a reverse parking camera as well which will directly be linked to the cabin display”..
None of the dealers accept this. They say an extra display has to be added to for a reverese camera . Can u please help me with the model of the camera that can couple with the existing display. I want to go for XMA. in that case.
