Reasons for the delay

New Mahindra Scorpio

With Mahindra testing the Scorpio facelift regularly, it was expected that the car might enter the Indian market sooner than expected. However, the timeline might have taken a toll due to unforeseen reasons. One of the main reasons behind it is the shortage of semiconductors.

The shortage was mainly due to industrial accidents occurring at factories in Japan and also due to the lack of shipping containers in places like Taiwan and China to import the semi-conductors. Moreover, the demand for these components is very high since semi-conductors are not just limited to cars but are also used in phones, laptops and other electronic devices.

The same shortage is affecting the timeline of the XUV500 as well. With XUV500 mostly expected to enter the market first, the delay in XUV500’s launch will directly affect Scorpio’s launch. Also, the Mahindra Bolero Neo will mostly enter the market after the XUV500 and before the Scorpio. Due to this, the launch of the Scorpio might be delayed to next year as well.

Should you wait for it?

New Mahindra Scorpio

The Scorpio has been an iconic car and its popularity has grown year after year. The facelift of the Scorpio is expected to be more promising than the current model. The facelift model is expected to come with connected car tech, sunroof, cruise control, enhanced safety features like front parking sensors and better interiors.

Moreover, the suspension system on the new Scorpio is expected to be better than the one being sold in the market currently. With all this on offer, a prospective buyer should definitely wait for the Mahindra Scorpio facelift. However, if you want a 7-seater right away, there are multiple options to consider, like the Tata Safari or the soon-to-be-launched Hyundai Alcazar or the MG Hector Plus.
