Ford EcoSport has been a trend-setter product in the country. Although EcoSport started the compact SUV segment in the country, over the years, multiple rivals have entered the market, and due to this, EcoSport has lost itself in the crowd somewhere. However, the EcoSport is soon going to get a new mid-spec variant, and in this article, we will discuss the upcoming SE variant.

What changes?

The SE variant of the EcoSport will be easily distinguishable. The major highlight of the SE over the Titanium and the Sports variants will be the absence of a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, which in sorts, was the major appealing point of the EcoSport. With the absence of a spare tyre, the EcoSport will wear a completely new personality.

The EcoSport SE will now come with the Ford logo shifted to the centre at the back. Just below it, a thick chrome plate will add to the sportiness of this variant. Moreover, the number plate has been removed from the bumper and placed in the middle of the tailgate.

Both front and rear bumpers have been kept the same; however, a silver skid plate has been added to the rear bumper where the number plate is attached in the regular variants. Moreover, the SE variant will get TPMS as standard along with a puncture repair kit. Tubeless tyres will come as standard with the SE variant.

Why the changes?

The Ford EcoSport SE is a variant that is being launched in compliance with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways amendment last year according to which any car which occupies 8 passengers in addition to the driver falls under the M1 category of vehicles. Under the M1 category, the vehicles need not have an additional spare tyre, given they come equipped with a TPMS, tubeless tyres and puncture repair kit.

What remains?

The rest of the Ford EcoSport is expected to remain the same, except for the changes mentioned above. We do not expect to see Ford changing the powertrain options for this variant. The 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines are expected, with both coming mated to manual transmissions. However, we will have to wait and see whether Ford brings the SE with an automatic transmission or not.

The sunroof is also expected to be brought with the SE variant.
