The SUV segment in India is on the hype. Whether you look towards micro SUVs, compact SUVs or premium SUVs, Indians have slowly become attracted towards them. The electric SUV market in India however does not have many contenders. You have the cheapest EV as the Tata Nexon EV while the MG ZS EV is also present.

Hyundai Kona Electric also competes here but does not look quite like a sports utility vehicle. With the EV market in boom, with the introduction of Tesla in India, other manufacturers are also getting ready to fire their guns. Find out below Mahindra eKUV100 expectations for India.

Design and Looks

E KUV 100

The upcoming eKUV100 looks quite similar to the ongoing gasoline-powered unit. However slight changes will be made to distinguish it as an EV. Mahindra had already showcased the eKUV100 in the Auto Expo during February 2020. Talking about the design you can still see the sharp LED DRLs upfront here. Compared to the KUV100, the eKUV100 only comes with a new lower front bumper.

Black side skirts are also a sweet addition.  The front grille will also draw heavy inspiration from other EVs in the market. The overall dimensions of the car are the same.  A different fog lamp housing and a slight bump on the bonnet can be seen on the Auto Expo 2020 car. The interiors of the eKUV 100 carry the same dashboard design but only with a matte finish ditching the shiny plastic bits from the gasoline-powered car. The eKUV will have a 150 km driving range on a single charge of its liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack. Powering the eKUV is a 15.9kW electric motor which is good for 54.4 bhp and 120 Nm of torque. Mahindra claims that charging the vehicle up will take just 6 hours with a regular charger. The specs of the eXUV300 are a mystery at the moment, but the driving range was confirmed by Mahesh Babu, MD & CEO, Mahindra Electric, to be around 375 km. Other reports also suggest that an entry-level version with lower driving range will also be introduced, focused towards the urban buyers. New alloy wheels design can also be expected with the car.
