Kia entered the Indian market with Seltos and took the Indian car market by storm. The company was successful in giving a tough competition to segment leader Hyundai Creta, which is also Kia’s sister brand. As of now, Kia sells the Seltos, Sonet and Carnival in our country. 1) Kia Carnival 2021

Kia launched the Carnival in India last auto expo in February but the MPV has already received an update now in the overseas market. While Kia may not bring the product soon, customer demand may push the company to bring the new Carnival to India by 2021. The sales response of the Kia Carnival has also been pretty decent.

The front grille also known as the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille looks inspired from the Seltos and fits the brand image of Kia better. Sleek new headlamps and LED DRLs make a welcome appearance. The price range of the new car will be quite similar to the third generation model currently on sale in India.

2) Kia Seltos EV

 

Kia Seltos was the first product of the company in India and is still a best seller for the brand. While the EV sector is slowly progressing in India compared to other developed regions, EVs are the inevitable future ahead. Various pollution laws and increasing fuel prices all lead to EV. The Tata Nexon EV is the cheapest EV sold in the Indian market currently. Kia may price the Seltos EV competitively so that people prefer the bigger SUV.

 

The Kia Seltos electric might be offered with the Hyundai Kona EV sourced 64kWh battery pack with a 204bhp, electric motor or a 56.5kWh battery pack borrowed from the Kia K3 EV. 3) Kia Reo

Kia showcased the Rio hatchback at the Auto Expo 2018. Based on Hyundai-Kia GB platform, it is a premium hatchback that sits in the same segment as the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and the Honda Jazz.  The EV variant of the same car was showcased during Auto Expo 2020 and may launch in India in the near future.

The Rio is powered by a 1.6-litre, in-line 4-cylinder petrol motor that generates 130PS of power and 161Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the features front, the Rio gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, cruise control, manual AC, day/night IRVM and a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, among others.

4) Kia Soul EV

In a show of support for electric cars in India, Kia Motors has given the government of Andhra Pradesh one unit of the 2020 Kia Soul EV. The car gets a major upgrade in performance with power & torque output raised to 204PS/400Nm from the earlier 110PS/285Nm. It employs a 64 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery instead of the old 30 kWh unit and as a result, also manages a claimed travel range of 450km (up from 200km). The affordable price of the Kia Soul EV is also a major selling point. It may become the cheapest EV sold in the Indian market.

5) Kia Sorento

Kia Sorento has been around since 2002 in Kia’s lineup and has been evolving in terms of size and performance. While the emission norms have downsized the engines the car has been proved to be a successful product for the Company. For the Year 2021 we are expecting the car to make its way to India.

The Sorento India would go head to head with the Jeep Compass. The price might be in the ballpark of Rs 20 to 35 lakhs. Now the product is not seen in India and there isn’t an idea on what all it will offer but it surely will be at par with the Jeep Compass. Sorento will do some addition to the design seen on the Kia Seltos. The tiger-nose grill is sure to be there and it will have sharper lines and creases to make it look aggressive. The most noticeable characteristic of the vehicle is forward sloping D-pillar and flared wheel arches.
