Kia, the Korean sister brand of Hyundai in India is known for its unique and offbeat offerings. The brand entered the Indian market with Kia Seltos which was an instant success.  Hyundai Creta became its main rival still the car performed well. The company also had its eyes set upon the highly competitive and famous sub-compact SUV segment. Kia recently unveiled the Kia Sonet which will be available for purchase starting next month. It enticed auto journalists all over due to its extravagant features. Though no price details were shared, the car will be affordable and priced close to Hyundai Venue.

What is Kia Sorento?

The premium SUV segment in India is popular too and Kia is planning to launch a new car every six months. As a result, Kia may launch the Sorento which is already launched in South Korea. The car, when launched, will rival against Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, Volkswagen T-Roc, Skoda Karoq and Citroen C5 Aircross.  The new Kia Sorento, when launched, will be the original Jeep Compass rival from Kia.

The Kia Sorento global variant like any other Kia car is known for its aggressive and modern looks. The car comes with the conventional Tiger Nose grille which makes it stand out from the crowd.  LED headlamps and DRLs, sportier front bumper can be seen in the front of the car.

As for the rear, vertically installed LED taillights, sharkfin antenna, integrated spoiler, Sorento badging and redesigned rear bumper is evident. The car looks sleek, stylish and streamlined. India may also receive the same version.

What about engine and performance?

The Kia Sorento global variant comes with a variety of different engine options. India, however, may get 1.6-litre turbo petrol as an option. This engine produces a maximum power output of 230PS and a peak torque of 350Nm. The engine, however, does not work alone but comes with a 44.2kWh electric motor to help.  According to our sources, the car also gets CVVDT (Continuous Variable Valve Duration Technique)  for better performance and efficiency.

What about interiors?

The new car comes with all the modern bells and whistles like any other Kia car.  Similar to Seltos and Sonet, the Sorento for India may also come with a 10.12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with vertical AC vents, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster.
