Expect Citroen in the Market Soon!

The news of Citroen to enter the market has been around for a while now. Now finally there are concrete steps being taken for the same. C5 Aircross Trial Production has began and this is actually a good sign. We soon will be able to see a model up for the sale. But is it gonna be a production model? What is a trial production?

C5 Aircross Trial Production

This Citreon car will be a CKD unit which will be assembled in India. The car will be sold in one variant and as it is with all the CKD units the car will have a massive cost of above Rs 30 lakhs. It will be definitely a premium offering.

Now what we expect is that Citroen is trying to enter in a place where the volume of sales is not that high but the premium that they can charge can be high. With the CKD units, they can keep their profits in check and this will be a good way to judge the market.

How many CKD C5 Aircross?

Where is the India Launch?

Citroen had told that there was a delay in the launch due to the COVID-19 crisis. This has pushed the launch to next year in the last financial quarter. The launch was previously expected by the end of 2020. This will be the launch that will be a CKD launch which means that the car will be locally assembled. The production of the car here is still not decided upon.

Features

As it will have only one variant it will be fully loaded. You will find a lot of electronic features like a parking brake, electronic tailgate, climate control, There will be LED headlamps and tail lamps too. A panoramic sunroof will not be missed at this price point and the driver infotainment and instrument cluster will be digital.

C5 Aircross Trial Production Engine

The engine for now on this car will be the 2.0-litre diesel engine. This makes about 180 bhp of power and the 8-speed automatic gearbox will make it a cakewalk to extract power while maintaining the economy. The other engine that is also expected is a 1.5-litre diesel engine which will be a bit low for this price point but that might make it later on in the life of this car.

Citroen India Showrooms

In a previous news update, we had mentioned about a Citroen showroom to be getting ready in Gujrat. Citroen India to start operation in India with a showroom in Ahemdabad.  This will not be the only one. There are 10 to 15 that are being planned for the first stage of India entry. They all will have a similar look and feel as Citreon likes to call it “La Maison Citroen”.

Along with this the C5 Aircross will not be the only SUV for india. The C21 compact SUV will be a more interesting product as a 90% production of it is expected to be done in India. Also for now the price is expected Rs 7 lakhs for that which will make it a big volume grosser for Citreon.
