Citroen C5 launch delayed For India!
Citroen, a very big manufacturer in the global market had decided to enter the Indian market in August 2020 with C5 Aircross 2020 but the current pandemic has forced the manufacturer to delay the launch by the first quarter of 2021. When the whole country is bothered about the virus, no one is interested in buying a car from new brands, says an official of Citroen. They have decided to launch the car only after the pandemic subsides and customers will be interested in buying cars.
The C5 will be imported as a complete CKD unit and assembled in a plant in Tamil Nadu. Skoda Karoq, Volkswagen Troc, Jeep Compass, and Hyundai Tuscon will be its major competitors.
Price and Competition
Name | Price |
Citroen C5 Aircross | Not officially announced |
Hyundai Tucson | Rs.18.76 to Rs.25.97 Lakh |
Jeep Compass | Rs.16.49 to Rs.24.99 Lakh |
Skoda Karoq | Rs.24.99 Lakh |
Volkswagen T-Roc | Rs.19.99 Lakh |
If the price is your deciding factor, do not bother waiting for Citroen. The above cars provide much more value for a lot less. Also, the wait for this car has been extended more now.
Engine and Performance
A petrol engine is highly unlikely in this Citroen India C5. However, the current BS6 requirements are strict and Citroen has to be careful. A 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 131bhp and a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 180bhp has been hinted. An eight-speed torque convertor automatic will also be provided standard.
