VW T-Roc Launched in India at Rs 19.99 Lakhs Only
Volkswagen India has finally launched T-Roc SUV in India today, after a long wait. Globally, the T-Roc was unveiled almost three years ago. But this long wait turned out to be good in the end, as it is launched at a price less than what we all have thought. Now this SUV, imported via CBU route, is launched at an introductory price of Rs.
19.99 lakhs. Considering that it is a CBU import, this is definitely a very aggressive pricing. Initially, only 2,000 units will be imported to judge the demand in our market.
T-Roc Features
Because of restrictions, VW could import limited number T-Rocs and hence they have chosen to offer it only in top spec trim with only one mechanical configuration. Being a top spec car, the VW T-Roc for India will come with all bells and whistles. Some of the highlights of exterior are panoramic sunroof, roof-rails, 17-inch diamond cut alloys, LED head and tail lamps. The list of features on offer is long which includes dual zone climate control, automatic lights, rain sensing wipers, electro-mechanical parking brake, height adjustable and ventilated front seats, hill start assist, regenerative braking, touch screen ICE with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility etc.
Safety
Volkswagen cars are always known for built quality and safety on offer. The T-Roc comes equipped with 6 airbags, heated exterior mirrors, all 4-disc brakes, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, auto hold, front and rear fog lamps, TPMS and ISOFIX child seat anchor points. One key point to note is that VW is offering extended warranty of upto 12 years on T-Roc.
No other manufacturer covers such extensive period under extended warranty.
Engine and Transmission
Volkswagen T-Roc is powered by 1.5 liter TSI EVO engine, which is mated to 7-speed DSG grearbox. This engine produces 150 bhp and torque of around 250 Nm, which promises sportier performance for sure. The interesting feature of this engine is ACT, which means Active Cylinder Technology. This technology is used increase the efficiency by deactivating two cylinders in lower load situations. This along with engine start-stop system and brake energy regeneration promise good economy figures. Also, T-Roc comes with paddle shifters, adding more convenience to driving.
Closest competitors, in India, for VW T-Roc are Hundai Creta and Kia Seltos in Turbo DCT avatar. Globally though, it competes with Hyundai Kona, Honda HR-V and Renault Capture.
