KTM 125 Duke is the smallest bike in the entire KTM lineup. KTM 125 Duke price is the one thing that hits every bike enthusiast. There have been debates, arguments regarding the KTM Duke 125 price. The bike was introduced in India to lower entry point below the KTM 200 Duke which was priced at Rs 1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom) at that time. The KTM 125 Duke, when launched, was priced at Rs 1.2 lakhs (ex-showroom). Now after BS6 update it now costs Rs 1.4 lakhs (ex-showroom). Is it really a good bike to pay 1.4 lakhs or is it an overpriced one? KTM 125 Duke

Why 125 cc and not 150 or 160 cc?

KTM 125 Duke rear

The KTM 125 Duke is not a new bike that was made for India. It was a bike which was made for the European audience. In many European countries, there’s a law that riders from the age between 16-18 can ride a motorcycle with a maximum 125 cc engine capacity and does not produce power more than 14.75 BHP. So the manufacturer’s try their best to make a bike which fits the law. So KTM 125 Duke was brought to India in order to lower the price tag of KTM family. If it was meant to lower the price then why is it so high?

KTM 125 Duke price

In India, the 125 cc segment begins around Rs 60,000 and ends at Rs 1,00,000. The 150-160 cc segment in India begins at Rs 75,000 and ends at approx Rs 1.1 lakh (ex-showroom). The KTM 125 Duke is priced more than 150-160 segment. However, one might think the features of the KTM 125 Duke might justify the price.

KTM 125 Duke comes with all the features and hardware spec that no bike of the segment has. It comes with trellis frame chassis, USD forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear, bigger disc brakes, Radial tyres, etc. So, when you ride the KTM 125 Duke, it doesn’t feel like a 125 cc bike until and unless you twist the throttle.

The KTM 125 Duke comes with above segment power output that even beats 150-160 cc bikes. The liquid-cooled unit of 125 Duke produces about 14.5 bhp max power and 12 Nm peak torque. As it is a 125 cc bike but priced higher than 150-160  segment so people think it is an overpriced bike. So what could you but in that money that could beat the KTM Duke 125 in a straight line.

Competition

In the KTM 125 Duke’s price, one can buy a 160 cc or 200cc bike or even 250 cc bikes. These include Yamaha MT-15, Yamaha R15, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, Yamaha FZ25. But none of them has trellis frame chassis, USD forks, big disc brakes than 125 Duke. The question should ask your self is that do those parts really make a difference or is there more performance for the lesser buck available? If you really want to buy KTM then we suggest that you should wait and extend your finances to get the KTM Duke 200 which is much of significant improvement.
