People are often confused between MPVs and SUVs and their purposes. At first glance, an MPV seems like more value for money, but an SUV has its perks. Today we compare one of the most popular cars from both these segments. We put the Maruti Ertiga up against the Maruti Vitara Brezza to find out the difference between the two. See more about the detailed comparison below.

Dimensions

The Maruti Ertiga is much bigger as compared to the Maruti Brezza. This is mainly because the main feature of an MPV is to seat more people in the most comfortable way possible. To achieve this the Ertiga is considerably longer than the Vitara Brezza. It is 4.39 metres in length as compared to the Brezza’s 3.99 metres

Maruti Ertiga

Comfort and specifications

The suspension of the Ertiga is tuned to be on the softer side as it is a vehicle meant for comfort. Therefore it feee=ls more comfortable to ride than the stiffer Vitara. But the Vitara with its stiffer suspension gets lesser body roll while cornering and also deals with off-roading better. The Brezza also gets a ground clearance of 198 mm while the Ertiga only gets 180 mm. The boot space of the Brezza is also higher at 328 litres while the Ertiga is 209 litres. But on the flip side, the third-row seats of the Ertiga can be folded out which will make its boot space much bigger than even the Brezza.

Features

Maruti Vitara Brezza

The Brezza is one of the most feature-packed Maruti cars available. It gets more features as compared to the Ertiga such as rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, LED DRLs and cruise control. Both cars also get common features such as parking camera, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, push-button start/stop, touch-screen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, alloy wheels, ABS, navigation, steering mounted controls, height-adjustable driver’s seat. But the Ertiga gets rear AC vents and additional charging slots which the Brezza misses out on.

Pricing

The Brezza costs between Rs 7.34- 11.40 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the Ertiga costs between Rs 7.59- 10.13 lakhs(ex-showroom). The Ertiga only stresses on interior comfort and practicality while the Brezza is an overall better package. So if carrying more than five passengers or the rear seat comfort is your priority then the Ertiga is the best choice. Otherwise the Brezza does come out on top.
