Tata has ventured out into a lot of departments in recent years.

The newest one being the electric cars with the Nexon EV. However, Tata had also strayed into the performance-oriented department. The cars it has in these departments are the Tiago and the Tigor. Tata collaborated with a company called Jayem auto and thus the partnership was born. The company was called JTP and it changed the dynamics of Tata cars to have an appeal for enthusiasts. We take a closer look at the Tata Tigor JTP below.

Design

The Tata Tigor JTP looks a lot different than the regular Tigor. It comes with a new front end design that includes a large trapezoidal lower grille, dual-chamber projector headlamps, bonnet and fender vents, wider 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and side skirts for a dynamic side profile.

It also gets contrast coloured auto-fold outside mirrors, a dual-tone colour scheme, glossy black roof, sporty twin-barrel exhaust, piano black shark fin antenna and rear spoiler.

Engine and performance

This is a stand out feature of the car. It gets a differently tuned 1.2L turbocharged new-gen Revotron engine delivering 112 bhp and 150 Nm torque. This gives it a 0-100 km/h in 10.

38 seconds. The car is mated to a five-speed manual transmission with optimized gear ratios for superior acceleration and exciting performance.

When a car gets extra power it is important for other parts of the car to be changed to make it a complete car. The car, therefore, gets tuned suspension and calibrated electric power-assisted steering results in superior control. This is complemented with lower ride height and wider tyres for improved grip on the road.

Tata Tigor interiors

On the interiors as well you can notice all the differences that are made in this car. It gets a unique seat fabric with red hexagonal elements. The Tata Tigor JTP also gets aluminium racing pedals. Along with this, you get a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that also gets the ConnectNext technology. The system also comes with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. It gets full automatic climate control as well.

Pricing and competition

The Tata Tigor JTP is available in white and red colours. The car has no rivals as such in the compact sedan segment as it has even more power from cars that are above its segment such as the Volkswagen Vento. But, the car was only made available with a manual gearbox which affected the sales. It is priced at Rs 7.60 lakhs (ex-showroom).
