TVS Apache series has always been a tough contestant for the Bajaj Pulsar series. TVS Apache 200 4V is one of the quite famous Apache and is a straight competitor to the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. Recently, Apache 200 4V had undergone the BS6 update, and in this update, it gets multiple changes and additional features so let’s see if the bike is any better?

Engine

The TVS Apache 200 4V comes with a BS6-compliant 197.75 cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, oil-cooled engine. The engine nearly produces 20 bhp max power and 16.8 Nm of peak torque. The engine then gets mated with a 5-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.

Considering the rivals, the engine is not a segment leader but also it’s not weak either. Now, the exciting thing with the engine is that the exhaust note of the bike. It is very bassy and has a volume to it. The engine is considered as the best-refined engine in the segment so you won’t feel vibrations up to 90-100 km/hr.

Design

The design is quite a subjective topic so we’ll just highlight some of the key elements of the design and not judge the entire design. The Apache 200 4v BS6 has a new headlamp unit which possesses LED bulbs and LED DRLS. Along with the headlamp unit, the taillamps are also LED unit. The bike gets double-barrel exhaust pipe which is the reason for its throaty exhaust note and also enhances the design. The front suspension fork is coloured with the golden shade which looks good.

The bike gets a split seat arrangement that also enhances the sportiness of the bike. The belly pan helps the bike to attain the sharper look when compared to the rival.

Specifications

Now coming to the cycle parts of the bike, TVS Apache 200 4V gets pretty upmarket hardware. The suspension work of the bike is done by telescopic suspension at the front and mono-shock suspension at the rear. The suspension is tuned by the Showa, so it has perfectly suited highways as well as rough roads. The braking duty is done by 270 mm disc at front and 250 mm disc at the rear. These brakes are then assisted by dual-channel ABS which is first in the segment. The bike gets clip-on handlebar which is pretty common in the segment now.

We can analyze bike statistics, engine health, etc. The instrument cluster also has an advanced sensor that sends a message to selected contacts when the bike meets a crash or falls below a certain incline angle. Another interesting feature is the GTT system, the system allows the bike to crawl in city traffic with just the use of the clutch.

Now with all these good features let’s turn our attention towards the pricing. The TVS Apache 200 4V BS6 costs Rs 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom). The bikes main rivals are Bajaj Pulsar NS 200, Hero Xtreme 200 R. Taking all the specifications and features into consideration, the TVS Apache 200 4V proves to have good value for money.
