Looks / Aesthetics

Hero has already showcased the upcoming Xtreme 160R last month. Our team did some exploration of this bike and we have to say that it is a very pretty looking bike. Hero truly has found the right trick to manufacture the bike with 70-80 percent as of concept. Looking from the front, it gets transformers like headlamp unit with all-LEDs. The side profile is a little bit shorter than the rivals, that makes it somewhat unique in terms of stance.

From the rear, it gets smoked LED taillamps and also an integrated grab handles that makes it a cleaner and subtle. The Hero Xtreme 160R is the first bike in the segment to offer all-LED indicators. Overall, the bike looks somewhat futuristic. You can watch our below walkaround video so that you get a clear idea about the design.

Engine

The bike comes with a 160 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected motor that churns out 15 bhp max power and 14 Nm of peak torque. It is claimed that the bike can accelerate 0-60 km/hr in just 4.7 sec. Looking at the acceleration, it’s quite similar to the TVS Apache 160 4V which is currently segment leader. It will be really interesting to see which outperforms the best among the two. The company claims that this acceleration is able to achieve due to better power to weight ratio which is segment-leading. The engine comes mated with a 5-speed gearbox. We will cover a detailed review as soon as we get hands-on the bike.

Features and Hardware

Xtreme 160R

The Hero Xtreme 160R comes equipped with pretty upmarket and modern features. It gets fully digital instrument cluster that indicates most of the needed information. The suspension duty is managed by the 37 mm telescopic suspension at the front and adjustable hydraulic mono-shock at the rear. Braking of the bike is done by 276 mm disc at front and 220 mm disc at the rear. There will be also a drum brake model to reduce the base variant cost.

Price and Rivals

The pricing of the bike is expected at around Rs 95,000-1 lakhs (ex-showroom). The major rivals for the bike are Suzuki Gixxer 155, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Yamaha FZ V3. If the pandemic gets controlled till the end of April, then we can expect the Hero Xtreme 160R launch in July – August.
