Touring on a motorcycle is a different level of fun. When we tour on a comfortable machine, the fun element gets boosted.

So in today’s blog, we will see if the TVS Apache RR 310 boosts the fun or not? Now, the TVS Apache RR 310 is considered as the track machine as well as a sports tourer. The bike comes with both track dynamics and as well as touring dynamics so let’s filter out the touring elements and then we will be able to decide if it’s better for touring or not.

Seating Position

Every bike tourer is always concerned about the bike’s riding position. The pegs of the bike are rear set but not too far. The bike has a sporty riding position but it’s not that committed as of its rival, the KTM RC 390. The seat is also good cushioned and soft so you do get the benefit over the rival motorcycle while touring. But still, it does not have a riding position like that of a cruiser or an adventure bike.

The seating ergonomics makes it difficult to mount the tank bag.

Windshield

Along with a decent seating position for touring, the bike also gets a practical windshield. The windshield is quite big enough to deviate the air from your body. That’s a plus point for the TVS Apache RR 310 touring ability. On a touring bike if you are on the saddle for more than 5 hr a day then wind blast can make the rider tiresome. For some taller riders the windshield can be a problem as the wind can cause some turbulence directly at the helmet.

Power

Coming towards power, the motorcycle will not disappoint you. The Apache RR 310 comes with BMW sourced 312.2 cc single, cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine. The engine produces around 33 bhp max power and 27.3 Nm of peak torque. To enhance the powertrain, the engine comes mated with a slipper clutch and six-speed gearbox. The engine is so refined that you can easily cruise at the speed of 100-120 km/hr. Along with the good plush performance, the bike also returns about 30 km/l mileage. That makes the total average range of 330 km on a full tank which is decent enough.

Rider Modes

When you are at a tour, you might face challenges from the weather. TVS Apache RR 310 gets rain mode which decreases the power output from 33 bhp to 25 bhp, this mode ensures that the bike doesn’t skid due to wet surface. So TVS Apache RR 310 boosts the fun element while the touring but slightly lags in the touring abilities that is due to smaller pillion seat that accommodates less luggage. The clip-on handlebars also constrain the travel for a longer time, so you will need more breaks while touring. Overall, it is a capable touring motorcycle and you won’t regret it after the tour. The pricing of the TVS Apache RR 310 starts at Rs 2,40,000 (ex-showroom). Other motorcycles you can consider in the segment include KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 (currently discontinued in India).

Navigation

To enhance the TVS Apache RR 310 touring ability, the manufacturer has planted a large TFT display instrument cluster. The TFT screen shows all the useful stuff as well as turn by turn navigation. The SmartXConnect feature let you connect your smartphone to the display.

You can take a look at the statistics of the post-ride such as ride patter, G-Force, interactive tour maps, and much more.
