Maruti Wagon R Electric spotted testing again

Published

Wagon R Electric rear

Maruti Wagon R Electric! What is it? Why is it interesting? Lets talk about it. There are electric cars that one can purchase in India at this moment. But ownership is not that simple. There are still some problems like – lack of charging stations, the life of the lithium-ion battery and the cost of owning one. But one rand is going to try against all odds. Maruti Suzuki! Don’t get me wrong, every manufacturer is trying. But most seem to think an SUV is an answer to the SUV market. In a country like ours, this is trying to do the impossible. A mass-produced electric car with the hopes of making a chunky profit for yourself and your dealerships, a hatchback sounds good. Maruti is planning to make the Maruti Wagon R Electric affordable with the price of this car coming around Rs 11 lakhs (On-road Mumbai) with the current subsidies in place. The car is also turning out to be more attractive with a 200km range. Sounds unreal. With this Maruti could kickstart an entire electric trend in India. Sounds interesting? Read further to know more.

Wagon R Electric rear

Currently, Maruti has got a fleet of electric cars on testing already. To know more about the Maruti Wagon R Electric scroll down.

Maruti Wagon R Electric How Will It Work?

With its logistical prowess and a huge network of dealers/service stations, Maruti will make the Wagon R Electric the first Indian mass produced and sold EV. The new WagonR with its electric version is slated to launch in India by 2020. The Maruti WagonR Electric will be developed in partnership with Toyota. Toyota in return will be selling the Brezza and the Balano as rebadged as a Toyota compact SUVs and hatchbacks. The Wagon R Electric will be the first Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MISL) vehicle to offer an electric power-train.

The cars testing has already begun. Maruti is making sure that this EV is ready to tackle the Indian terrain with ease. Around 50 cars are undergoing testing and are getting fine-tuned.

Maruti Wagon R Electric Launch

The car will be launched next year in the first half. This will be an important launch for the company as it gets into a segment where there is not much scope for profit our growth at the moment. We might be ditching diesel engines in a hurry but we are clinging on to the BS-6 ready petrol motors.

Maruti Wagon R Electric Price in India

The price will be around Rs 11 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs. Can this be justified? For a hatchback? Sort of, yes, The car will be on a whole new bigger platform, it will provide the performance of an electric car with the convenience and capability of an IC engine.

Maruti Wagon R Electric EV Facts

Now with that out of the way, we must tell you some more facts about EVs in India.

  • India is still a nation that gets 90% of its energy from non-renewable resources. EVs cannot show a ‘clean car’ image in this environment.
  • Coal plants are a major resource and generate a lot of electricity. After this comes petroleum and natural and biogas.
  • The government has announced a subsidy for EVs but has not yet drafted a law or passed it through the Ministry of Expenditure.
  • Lithium-ion batteries are not cheap. Batteries can cost up to INR 2-3 lakhs and prices seem to not go down soon in the future.
  • Buyers of EVs have a minuscule fuel cost compared to run a car with a combustion engine.
  • But the time taken to recover the money is huge.
  • Then there is the lack of infrastructure that needs to aid EVs when it comes to charging.
  • India is a big nation and range anxiety is a problem that many people will face when they want to commute long distances in their electric cars.

Maruti Wagon R 2018 rea

Maruti Wagon R Electric Design and Interiors

The car will be made with a great number of design inputs from the Maruti Wagon R. The car will get premium design touches and will be on a different level in terms of safety, features and specifications when compared to the regular or current Wagon R. There will be a more informative instrument cluster and a better infotainment setup. The car will get plush leather seats and automatic climate control.

Wagon R electric testing

Finally, with all these points and the imminent launch of EVs in the Indian market, we should make sure that before they get here the infrastructure is in place. Maruti Suzuki’s plan to launch the car in 2020 means that they obviously must have thought about these problems. The government under pressure from the NGT(National Green Tribunal) has declared that by 2030 India has to go full electric.

How much of this will materialize? Are internal combustion engines seeing their last days in India? I don’t think so. But all of this does means EVs on city streets will be a common sight in the future.

Maruti Suzuki to discontinue diesel cars by April 2020

Big news! The countries biggest manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki will phase out all diesel cars with effect from April 1, 2020. This announcement was made by the Maruti Suzuki India Chairman RC Bhargava during the post-results press conference.

The company currently has 2 diesel engines in it’s stable. This includes the old Fiat sourced 1.3-litre engine and the brand new 1.5-litre engine made by the company itself. This new engine will not be scrapped but will mostly be held on to for the future. Maruti garners 23% of their sales from its diesel vehicles. The manufacturer cited a weak rate of growth for the current fiscal year amid an industry-wide weakening of demand, sending the carmaker’s shares down as much as 2 %. Maruti Suzuki India Chairman RC Bhargava told Press Trust of India during the post-results press conference, “From April 1, 2020 we will not be selling diesel cars”.This is one of the biggest announcement by a manufacturer in recent times in the wake of the upcoming BS-6 laws.Maruti Vitara Brezza logo

Maruti Has sold a total of 17.53 lakh units in the domestic market in the year ended March 31, a growth of 6.1%. This comprised 17.29 lakh units in the passenger vehicle segment and 23,874 units of LCV. Exports were at 108,749 units. Maruti Suzuki reported a fall in net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, hurt by industry-wide weak demand. The carmaker’s net profit fell by 4.6% to 1,795.6 crore.

The manufacturer recently launched the Baleno and the new facelifted Alto with BS6 compliant engines. The manufacturer is set to also bring the same updates to the Dzire and Swift to get them BS6 ready. Apart from this today, Maruti also hiked the price of the Baleno diesel by Rs 20,000 to Rs 12,000. The price of the Baleno Rs was also increased.

It looks like the manufacturer is now going to focus on petrol engines, CNG variants and is also going to ready it’s EV base with the Wagon R Electric as it’s first proper EV. This is a sign of a change of times and the force of the BS6 laws kicking into place. Maruti will want to stay ahead in terms of innovation and be the first to adapt and change its strategy with the times to come. Betting big on electric is something every manufacturer is doing. Manufacturers like Mahindra and Tata already have big plans for the EV generation of vehicles. Platforms and R&D is being done with the need for EV cars in the future kept in mind. Many European manufacturers like Volkswagen, Renault and premium manufacturers like Jaguar, Porsche and Lexus also have electric vehicles planned for India. Brands like VW who suffered a lot after Dieselgate are completely moving away from diesel and focusing on naturally aspirated petrol and turbocharged engines.

What do you think of this move? Which will be the next manufacturer to move on from diesel engines? Which are your favorite diesel engines? Will electric vehicles fill the gap in the market? let us know below.

2019 Tata Altroz

The Tata Altroz 2019 is going to go sale in India later this year.  Last we came across some new pictures of the car being tested by Tata on what look like 16-inch wheels. The car was shown last month at the Geneva Motor  Show where it was seen wearing 17-inch wheels. However, we had said that the car will be offered with a size smaller in India. With the spy shots we got, we were right. Do scroll down to see the spy shots below. It will be however possible that the car could come with 17-inch alloy wheels as an optional extra. If that happens, this car will have the biggest tyers in its segment. We expect the upcoming facelifted Tata Nexon to also get a size bigger. The features and the specs on this car looking existing and it will be interesting to see how this car will shape up to be as a production model. Check out the spy shots of the car below and more shots from the Geneva in the gallery at the end.

What do you think will be the price, specs and features on this premium hatchback? Will you wait for the Altroz and not buy an i20?

Tata Altroz 2019 Launch Date in India

Launch Date August 2019

The Tata Altroz 2019 will be launched this year, August. It was shown at Geneva Motor Show in March. We had earlier reported that the car will be launched around September. We were pretty close. The car is currently undergoing rigorous tests. The pictures of the testing mule of this car have been spotted and released multiple times. Currently, the company is focusing on Harrier, Nexon, Tiago, and Tigor. The Harrier, Tigor and Tiago have their JTP versions were launched recently.

Tata Altroz 2019 Price in India

Tata 45X Price (on-road price)
Minimum ₹6 lakhs
Maximum ₹10 lakhs

The Tata Altroz is likely to be priced between Rs 6 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs, on-road. Tata will try and undercut the Maruti Baleno in pricing. This will give it a tremendous edge. The car will be manufactured locally. Thus, from the start, this will give it a big edge in competitive pricing. If the pricing of the Nexon is to be considered, then we can safely assume the Tata 45X is going to want a large piece of the segment. The i20, Jazz, and Baleno are a part of the premium hatchback segment and have shaped the market to their needs. Tata will have to make sure that they give the features that a customer in this segment is used to. Cars sold in this segment carry certain customer expectations and demands that need to be fulfilled by the manufacturer while being very competitively and closely priced. The Altroz is an exciting package and should be offering some good value for money.

2019 Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz 2019 Safety

The Tata Altroz will also be a very safe car when it will launch. The car could get 6 airbags, Traction control, ABS, EBD, ESP and other safety features like Corner Control Stability and also Pedestrian safety.

Tata Altroz 2019 Design

When it comes to styling, the Altroz follows the Impact 2.0 design language. This design language is what is to be used by Tata Motors on all its future models. This hatchback is based on the Advanced Modular Platform. This platform will underpin all kinds of vehicles from Tata Motors in the coming times. The Tata Altroz  2019 is a futuristic concept. It has sharp lines and a very aerodynamic design. Shod with a sleek front end, the windshield rakes sharply, to give it a very sporty stance. It looks dynamic even at a standstill. The whole car gives off a very athletic vibe. The spoiler looks like a continuation of the roof of the car.

2019 Tata Altroz

The Tata Altroz gets a thin grille. It’s fitted with LED headlamps and DRLs. There is going to be a separate grille on the lower part of the front bumper. The front bumper itself looks very big and low. Flared wheel arches make it look muscular. The car is wide enough to rival the likes of Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno. The Tata 45X has a long wheelbase. It is low slung and the engine bay is small. This gives us a sense that the cabin shall be very spacious. This is what will be its USP and what customers would like to have in a premium hatchback. The other thing if you notice is the flat bonnet will aid in visibility and make maneuvering this car in traffic a breeze. The result will be the driver having a relaxed drive.

Engine 1.2-litre petrol 1.5-litre diesel
Power 100bhp 110bhp
Torque 160Nm 260Nm
Transmission 5-speed manual 6-speed manual

The Altroz is going to get a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. There could even be a non-turbo version, which will be an entry price point version. This shall be the same 84bhp, we have already seen on the Tata Tiago as well. The diesel might be the 1.5-litre, which will be shared with the Nexon. These are the new generation engines from Tata. The engines will churn about 100-110bhp of power and will be offered with a six-speed manual and also AMT options. These will be the first set of premium hatchbacks that shall get AMT. The engines will be fuel efficient too. The six-speed gearbox will do wonders for the mileage. They might not be the best when it comes to performance, but they will offer a good package, especially at the price this car is expected to come at. It will also be cheaper and more cost effective to have an AMT unit in the car rather than a traditional automatic. This could be one of the same units as seen on the Nexon.

2019 Tata Altroz

However, there is some talk about this car getting a CVT gearbox like the Hyundai i20. The automatics will come in later. This is what most of the Indian car brands have been doing. A bit too annoying habit for all of us. Auto buyers please wait for it.

Tata Altroz 2019 Competition

The Tata Altroz 2019 will be competing with the Fiat Punto, Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz. Tata Motors is looking at enhancing its reach in this segment. What they will have to offer is the best in class, that is when it will work out. This car is expected to bring some more zing into the segment, which is veering towards SUVs. It is interesting that Tata will be making the car available.

The car is expected to be a volume churner for Renault and could be a shared product for the Alliance of Nissan and Renault. The car has been spotted testing in spy shots that have surfaced and also have shown the interiors. The camo used in the covering of this car is also interesting and has got a very outdoorsy and adventure vibe to it. Renault wants to project the car as an adventure-oriented vehicle. The Triber is going to get a premium and an upmarket interior too. The car will be given a lot more features than the competition. The Renault Triber 2019 will also be priced very strategically.

Do you think this will be an exciting package? Can this car take on the Honda BR-V? Scroll to find out below.

Renault Triber 2019 Launch Date

The second half of 2019, this is when the new MPV is expected. Renault is looking at enhancing its sales network and getting unique products too. With this new product, Renault will be looking at capturing the private taxi market. A good option for city dwellers too. It will enhance the ability to carry more people in a vehicle with a footprint of a hatchback.

Renault Triber Launching in 2019

Renault Triber 2019 Price in India

The Renault Triber will be priced at about ₹6.5 lakhs to ₹INR 11 lakhs (on-road). This will not have a direct competitor. This is the exact kind of segment Renault will be looking at capturing. This will be possible as the CMF-A platform has been localized and this will help to reduce the cost and make it better value for money. Instead of getting an all-new compact SUV, Renault is looking at exploring the compact MUV with MPV practicality and hatchback-like usability. Renault is making the Triber especially for India and the car will be locally manufactured.

Renault Triber Price (ex-showroom)
Petrol ₹6.5 lakhs onwards
Diesel ₹7.5 lakhs onwards

Renault Triber front

While the launch details and other specifications are going to vary as we come close to the unveiling of this car, here are 5 points that are the most important details of the upcoming Triber that are confirmed –

  • This will be based on the Kwid platform which means the CMF-A platform will see some modifications.
  • The has been specially been built for India in India. It will have a modular design.
  • The car is touted to the 1.0-liter petrol engine with a higher performance tune and could also get the 1.5-liter diesel engine. Both engines will be introduced with manual gearboxes. The petrol engine could spot an AMT.
  • In terms of safety, we will see the car come with ABS, EBD, ESP and 2 airbags as standard. Renault could add more safety features like four disc brakes and other stuff as standard.
  • The car will get features like, keyless push-start-stop, different driving modes, sunroof, cruise control, LED Headlamps and taillamps and more.

Renault Triber 2019 Engine

The Triber will get the 3 cylinders 1.0-litre engine of the Kwid. It will make a lot more power on the 7 seater car. It will get a 5-speed manual and AMT too. The 1.5-litre diesel engine could be a second engine option for a diesel variant. The Renault Triber 2019 will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The company is looking at adding a lot more options to the transmission. There will be a five-speed manual and AMT as well. The petrol should churn about 90bhp of power and the diesel about 85bhp. These will be offered on the Renault Triber. We can expect features like ABS, EBD and dual airbags offered on this car as standard. Even though it’s a huge ask, four disc brakes would be a welcome addition with the Marazzo being the first car in this segment to get four disc brakes as standard (Innova is in another price range with more features standard) at a low price point.

Renault is looking at adding this new MPV into the Indian car market by mid-2019. It has plans to get more vehicles on the CMF-A platform. After the Kwid this will be the first product for the French company on this platform. The car will sit below the Duster in the Renault line-up.

Renault Triber 2019 Platform

Designed on the CMF-A+ platform, the Triber will be just around four-meters in length. Renault has been highly successful with the Kwid and the CMF-A platform. The company already has 1.25 lakhs bookings for the Kwid, despite its limited dealership network. The CMF-A+ is a modified platform that can house bigger size vehicles and larger engines. This will help Renault to retain a high level of localization.

Renault Triber 2019

Renault Triber 2019 Features

The Renault Triber 2019 will have a lot of features in the offering. This will be the first proper seven-seater MPV that will be under 4 meters. At the moment, there is no other vehicle in this segment. The current and the next Ertiga will be in excess of 4 meters in length and the Datsun Go+ is 5+2 seater. Renault is looking at applying the Lodgy space concept on its all-new MPV.

  • 7-inch Touchscreen system
  • Navigation system
  • Reverse camera
  • Steering mounted controls
  • 15-inch tyres
  • AC vents for second and third rows
  • Climate control
  • Second-row reclining seats
  • Third row flat folding
  • Cruise Control
  • Parking sensors

Renault Triber 2019 Design

The MPV is bound to pick up its styling cues from the Renault Kwid. When it comes to its proportions, Renault will also look at the Lodgy for some inspiration in space management. This car will sit below the Lodgy in the companies’ line-up. When it comes to proportions it will be interesting to see how the car will look. The overall car is going to be bigger than the Ertiga. Renault will look at the Captur for some design ideas when it comes to Triber’s front look to have a more butch and aggressive stance. There could also be the use of a lot of body cladding. The exterior should have a tougher look than its rivals. The car is also going to mostly have a fascia that resembles the Captur in many ways. Color options could have the existing colors that are offered with the Kwid.

Renault Triber 2019

They will want a car like this to get back in the MUV game. The Renault Lodgy is not performing to the levels of which the automaker would like to see it perform. With the Triber, Renault will have some ground rules, objectives and goals in mind. This car then should have the following points covered –

  • The Triber will be bigger than the Ertiga.
  • It will get dual-zone climate control.
  • An economical power unit which will be an upgraded engine from the Kwid.
  • And it will highly be localized.
  • Will you wait for the Kwid? What features will it pack? Scroll down to find out. This is bigger than the Go+ but smaller than the Ertiga.

Renault Triber 2019 Colors

-Electric Blue

-Fiery Red

-Moonlight Silver

-Planet Grey

-Ice Cool White

-Outback Bronze

These colors are also available with the Kwid and some of these colors most of them are available with the Renault Captur and the Duster. These color options will also be available on the Renault Triber2019.

This car could also be the second car to get the climber treatment like the Kwid.

Renault Triber 2019 Spy Shots

Renault Triber 2019 Competition

This car will be in direct competition with the Datsun Go+. Now there are no plans of launching the Maruti WagonR seven-seater in India but with the competition bringing out with such a car, Maruti could rethink their strategy. The car will be an expansion of the Renault line-up that will make the buyer pool more diverse.

Renault Triber – seems to be exciting

Published

on

Now, generally I don’t write stories in a column or a direct person format but this is my first one. I have never understood why brands aren’t taking the tried and tested routes for India. For instance, Renault is a good case study. It seems to have always gauged the fact – India needs products that will be made for Indian audience. Frugal engineering is one of the most common terms used by the brand. A simple example is Apple – made products for consumers, which they always wanted but never thought it will be possible. The iPod, iPhone, Macbook – all these are great examples. Innovation is the key. Anyone can – monkey see, monkey do! It takes courage to get all new and innovative products. Today any brand that needs to come to India, needs to understand this. If you just get a product from other market for India, it might not be the right choice.

Renault began its Indian innings with the Duster. This was a runaway hit for the company. An all new segment was created. Back in 2012, no one knew what was a compact SUV. The others joined the band wagon later. There was a need for this, but no segment. Creating an all new product on the customer feedback isn’t a risk. Its a story of success. The Duster didn’t just succeed itself, it has made an entire new segment that has taken up a major set of sales for the Indian car market. It makes it easier to have the numbers going then. Its being a new leader instead of doing a catch up game. With a lesser known name in the country, limited dealerships and smaller number of touch points it is a difficult game to win.

New Renault Duster front scuff plate

Renault achieved success with the Duster and then came in the Kwid. This has made its own segment and became the talking point. A car in the price of Alto, with SUV-like looks, touchscreen and now even reverse camera, this is news in itself. It doesn’t need any extra marketing. The others are working on this and will be doing a catch-up game soon. This is one reason why Renault has been the most successful European car brand in the country.

Renault Kwid

I have always been a fan of this brand, specially when I saw their F1 team with Fernando Alonso to end the winning streak of Michael Schumacher and Ferrari. This company has 120 years of legacy in the automotive industry. There are a lot of things that can be spoken, focus on localising in India – indicating long-term plan for the country, penchant for innovation and focus on the market demands by creating new segments and sub-segments.

Renault Triber 2019

But my today’s discussion is on the Triber. This is likely to be another revolutionary product from the brand. The company will have a highly localised product to create a new segment for itself once again. It will be an ultra modular platform based on a new platform. The key highlights for this product will be its space and modularity. This is the company’s jargon. The image shared indicates it will be a lifestyle product and super spacious. My simple breakdown is: this will have a lot of flexibility in terms of practicality. It has been made for the Indian audience and shall be launched in the second half of 2019, I reckon July-August, before the festive season commences. I can’t wait anymore for this vehicle. Are you excited too?

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw spotted testing

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw rear

It seems an electric version of a product is the new trend that everyone is jumping on. The trend does not only limit itself to cars and bikes. Bitten by the electric bug is the countries leading three-wheeler manufacturer – Bajaj. The government is pushing big time for electric vehicles and Bajaj does not want to be left out. An electric rickshaw will be a boon for rickshaw owners and passengers likewise. The maintenance, running costs and comfort levels will become better. A quiet rickshaw is an amazing idea. Below we have spotted the three-wheeler testing in full camo. The rickshaw’s electric powertrain, features, interior and other details are still not out and it’s too early to predict those things. We do see a new type of wheel in these spy shots. It looks to have an electric motor fitted to its rims. Just like an electric scooter’s rear wheel. To see more spy shots and know more about this scooters launch – keep scrolling.

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw front

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw Launch

The Electric Rickshaw by Bajaj has just started its testing process. The rickshaw in the spy shots looks like it’s in its initial stages of development. We expect the product ready for a unveil or launch only next year. The Bajaj Electric Rickshaw will be launched in 2020.

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw Price

The price of this the Bajaj Electric Rickshaw is too early to predict. The price will be higher than the regular IC version of this product. It should not exceed the price of Bajaj’s own quadricycle – the Bajaj Qute.

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw Design

The design is not going to stray away too much from a normal rickshaw. There will be no great design changes see here. We will though see some details added, like LED headlamps, a digital instrument cluster and a new seat design. There will be more space too. The storage spaces might be better – storage under the driver’s seat and behind the passenger’s seat. There will be added convenience features like charging sockets and a digital display for the passengers.

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw rear

Bajaj Electric Rickshaw Specifications

Powering the Electric Rickshaw will be a set of lithium-ion batteries connected to an electric motor. We do not have any specs for this motor yet, but we can say one this – it will be quiet, have instant acceleration from a standstill, like most electric vehicles it will be an automatic and most importantly – it will have a decent range. The electric rickshaw will also need to charge quickly. This means Bajaj will work on some kind of technology where they will have the batteries configured to be removable. Charging time will also need to be quick. They will be charging stations dedicated to charging up the batteries like they are now for CNG rickshaws.

The landscape of Indian automobiles is changing very rapidly. We are seeing smart cars, A.I enabled systems and more safety features make their way into vehicles. So why should bikes be left behind? The Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle aims to do something like that. Now they have added another feather in their hat – the company’s first offering becomes India’s first homologated electric motorcycle. The Smart Motorcycle gets an ARAI-certification of 156 kilometers. The motorcycle has also managed to pass several critical tests such as the gradient test, water-proof test and many others in the process of passing the homologation process. To know more scroll down.

Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle Launch

Headquartered in Gurgaon, Revolt Intellicorp Pvt. Ltd. has a manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. A high-profile experienced R&D team based in Gurgaon headquarters has been working for close to 2 years with a joint vision of introducing India’s first AI-enabled motorcycle. The bike will be launched in June 2019.

Also, Revolt Intellicorp had conducted several stringent tests internally to ensure the best combination of performance and aesthetics. The product stood true to its promise during the Gradient Ability Test, where it went up to an incline smoothly at 10.2 degrees. The battery has gone through a foolproof, high-decibel internal testing process including tests performance, cycle life, nail penetration, shock, all-weather and waterproofing tests. Owing to this, the Lithium-ion battery of the new electric bike from the Revolt stable passed in a single attempt. The ARAI certified range is 156 km.

Speaking about the achievement, Rahul Sharma, Founder – Revolt Intellicorp Pvt. Ltd., said, “When we started developing the product, we had to put together performance, form factor and aesthetics into a powerful package. We invested a lot of time testing it internally to make sure we have a winner before sending it to the ARAI. The speedy ARAI certification is a huge endorsement to our efforts over the last 2 years.”

Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle Price

Headquartered in Gurgaon, Revolt Intellicorp Pvt. Ltd. has a manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. Spread over 100,000 square feet, the facility boasts a production capacity of 120,000 vehicles commissioned for Phase 1. The bike will command a bit of a premium, given the number of features it will be carrying. This bike will get A.I enabled smart connectivity features and a whole host of other features that will enrich the riders experience and prioritize safety. We think that the ideal price for this bike would be somewhere near Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakhs.

Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle Design

From the first sketch of the new motorcycle by Revolt Intellicorp Pvt. Ltd. showcases the perfect amalgamation of aesthetics and form factor. Designed by Shivam Sharma, Chief Designer- Revolt Intellicorp Pvt. Ltd., this will be India’s first AI-enabled motorcycle and looks nothing like any other electric two-wheeler in the market. While the sketches just show the front of the bike, for the front fascia it gets a projector unit that is vertically stacked. The headlights with LED DRLs on the sides. A pair of LED blinkers accompany the headlamp. The fascia is followed by the cockpit that includes a fully digital display. Moving on, the seat on the motorcycle looks like it’s been designed by keeping both rider and pillion comfort in mind. The upcoming bike from Revolt will feature a full-digital dash and, considering this will be India’s first AI-enabled, LTE-connected motorcycle, it will be interesting to see what the console will be capable of. Also seen is a headlight that comprises a projector and a regular LED setup.

The battery pack and motor are placed behind the fibre panels, and the final product is likely to retain this layout. Revolt Intellicorp has said that it will use the imported battery pack and the motor. The in-house team will develop the Battery Management System and Electronic Control Unit for the motorcycle. The saddle gets a single piece design instead of a split finish. It looks large enough to accommodate two adults comfortably. The pillion grab rail gets a brushed aluminium finish and a compact design. The rear of the motorcycle is not visible in the photographs, but it would be safe to assume that it gets LED tail lamp and blinkers.Revolt Smart Motorcycle

Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle Features

The upcoming electric motorcycle would feature LTE connectivity via a SIM card that would enable smart functions. We expect features like navigation, Bluetooth, crash alert and more to be present on the Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle.

Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle Power and Range

While power figures are unknown, we do know that the Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle will get a tremendous torque number which will be available from the get-go. The bike will get a limited top speed of 85km/h and an ARAI tested range of 156km. This is phenomenal because compared to the premium Ather 450, Revolt’s offering can go for nearly 40km further. This is enough for everyday use in the city. The Revolt electric motorcycle does not have a gearbox so it will not require a clutch. In the spy shot we do see, the bike sports a lever where the one for the clutch. There is also a brake fluid master cylinder. This could mean the front and rear both have hand operated brakes. The bike gets USD forks, a monoshock and a front disc brake. We expect dual channel ABS on it as standard. Revolt Intellicorp will install a charging infrastructure across Delhi-NCR, where it plans to sell this model first.

Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle Competition

The Revolt Intellicorp Smart Motorcycle will compete with the upcoming bikes from Tork Motors and the Ultraviolette F77.
