The XUV 500 was the original mid-size SUV that was launched in the Indian market. The car got a decent number of sales overall in the country and was bought by many kinds of people as it catered to a lot of the publics’ needs.

The Mahindra XUV 500 had a strong engine along with good practicality and some great features as well. Recently, the XUV 500 got a BS6 update and to keep the costs low of the car it did lose out on an all-wheel-drive system.

Mahindra XUV 500 W5

This is the base variant of the XUV 500. It gets a 6-inch infotainment display with projector headlamps, power-adjustable ORVM, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belt reminder lamp, reverse parking sensors, flip-key with remote and front row mobile charging point. This version is priced at Rs 12.97 lakh (ex-showroom).

From this variant onwards you start getting decent features such as push-button start/stop, keyless entry, static bending headlights, LED DRL, voice commands, Mahindra Blue Sense App, 7-inch infotainment, intelligent light-sensing headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, DIS in-built infotainment system, electronic steering lock, automatic temperature control, premium fabric, icy-blue lounge lighting, advanced Intellipark, smart key with remote, cruise control, steering mounted control, entry assist lamps. This is priced at Rs 14.24 lakh (MT) and Rs 15.45 (AT) (ex-showroom).

In addition to the above variants the Mahindra XUV 500 W9 gets an electric sunroof with anti-pinch, telescopic steering, power-foldable ORVMs, 17-inch alloy wheels, front fog-lamps, reverse parking camera with dynamic assist, second-row reading lamps and mobile charging points. This is priced at Rs 15.94(MT) and Rs 17.16 (AT) (ex-showroom).

The highest variant of the XUV 500 gets Apple CarPlay Connected apps, Brake energy regeneration (Not available in W11(O) Automatic), six-way electronically adjustable driver seat, quilted leather, soft-touch leather on dashboard and door trims, glove box with laptop holder, side and curtain airbags. This is priced at Rs 17.22 lakh (MT) and Rs 18.43 lakh (AT) (ex-showroom).

Mahindra XUV 500 engine

The BS6 Mahindra XUV 500 is powered by a 2.2-litre that generates 153 bhp and 360Nm. The BS6 XUV500 will be available in six-speed manual and six-speed automatic options. The automatic will not be made available in the lowest W5 variant of the car.

Competition

Even though it is one of the oldest cars, it still has a lot of features to play to its strengths. It currently goes up against the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier. The car will be getting an all-new model next year.
