The Compass was the first product launched by Jeep in 2017, which helped the company to successfully enter into the Indian market. The bold looks of the car along with the Jeep brand name proved to be popular amongst Indians. The car has a commanding stance, which differentiates it from other crossovers or compact SUVs. But with the SUV market being shaken up by the MG Hector and the Kia Seltos, Jeep plans to pre-pone their launch of the compass facelift in the Indian market.

Jeep Competition

Jeeps are known to be rugged SUVs that are not just cars with beefed-up suspension, are known to have actual off-road capabilities. Earlier, the seven-seater Jeep Compass was proposed for the Indian market. But reports last year suggested that the company shifted the launch of the compass ahead of the seven-seater Jeep. It could be because 2019 was an important year for the car market in India, especially for the SUV range. Two completely new brands entered the Indian soil and became instant hits. While the Compass did manage to create a bit of a stir when it was initially launched, people seem to have forgotten about it now, and that is what the brand seems to be wanting to change with the launch of the Jeep Compass facelift.

The car was shot undergoing testing in China. From the spy shots, it is evident that jeep has gone to great lengths to cover the front fascia of the car including the headlights. It is speculated that jeep will completely redesign the front bumper and totally change the headlights. By the looks of it, this does not seem to be a minor update. It is expected to be getting minor tweaks at the rear end, but the tail lights can be seen to resemble its elder sibling, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. From the inside, the infotainment system is also going to be completely new with touchscreen as an added feature. Higher quality plastics will also be used so as to give it a more premium feel. Hopefully, Jeep plans to introduce many such additional features so that it can successfully give competition to its rivals.

We can expect the launch to be somewhere around the second half of this year. In the meantime, Jeep has just launched the diesel automatic version of the car that was not previously offered. The BS6 engines in the Jeep are going to be launched soon and the petrol engine is expected to arrive in India with an upgraded state of tune. Check out our review of the Jeep Compass.
