Road testing for the Honda City hatchback has been started. This car is based on the 5th gen Honda City. The testing has been done in Thailand. There are spy shots further in this article which reveal more detail about this car. With the decision of retaining 2 models of the Honda City will Honda also bring this hatchback to India?

Let’s know more about this Honda City Hatchback!

Was there an Old One?

Honda City India

Yes, Honda did sell a Honda city Hatchback in China. This upcoming Honda City Hatchback is expected to make it to a lot of ASEAN markets. The car will definitely go on sale in Thailand. This car will also make it to China and South America which means that the car will have a left-hand drive system. Now the question this raises is that will this car continue alongside the Jazz? Or will it be introduced in markets where the Jazz is already discontinued?

Honda City Hatchback SpyShots

The Spyshot of the car gives us an idea of the overall design of the car. The patented designs were out in the last month. The only difference from the new Honda City sedan is that the car will have a different c-pillar. This means that the complete car will be the same as the sedan until the c-pillar.

The Honda City will also get a rounded rear which will make it look like a coupe SUV.

The car will have horizontally placed tail lamps as well as there complete boot will be redesigned so that it does not look out of place.

Honda City Hatchback Engine

There are no details about what will be powering the City Hatchback. The expectation is that it will get the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine making it a hot hatch. The car will also get a petrol 1.5-litre engine as a regular daily driver. Diesel engines have a thin probability of appearing on these cars; the segment does not demand it. Hatchback For India?

The City Hatchback for India, not something that we have a clear idea on. The Company is already in the process of launching the new BS6 Honda Jazz.

So having 2 cars which serve the same segment will not be a great idea. But the company is doing that by retaining the old Honda City. To know more on that click HERE. This does leave us with no answer to the question of whether this car will come to India?
