The pickup segment is quite niche in India. Only a handful of brands are present here. Isuzu had been the sole player in the pickup segment for quite some time however it has now found a new rival from Toyota. Looking at the open opportinities, we can expect other manufacturers to also enter this segment. One manufacturer that can bring a pickup from its global portfolio is MG Motors. MG could launch the Extender to take on the Toyota Hilux in India. In today’s article, we will take a look at the Chinese brand that will take on the Toyota Hilux.

Design

The Extender in the first look itself comes out to be very bold from the front. A big grille gives it an aggressive design language. MG has used a lot of chrome on the grille, adding that bling factor. The side profile looks like a typical pickup with a lot of curves and sharp lines. Other features include rectangular-shaped headlamps, big alloy wheels and slim DRLs.

MG Extender India- Launch timeline and pricing

MG has not confirmed anything about the launch of Extender in India officially. But considering the fact that Toyota has launched the Hilux, MG can bring the Extender as well. MG will surely try to undercut the Hilux as it did with the Gloster against the Fortuner. Toyota has priced the Hilux from Rs 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and MG can launch the Extender around the Rs 25 to 28 lakh price range.
