The Jeep Meridian runs on a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine as we see on the Compass. On Compass, this engine makes 170bhp & 370Nm of torque. As of now, Jeep has not revealed the exact power figures the engine makes on the Meridian but we expect the power figures to be slightly bumped. This engine will be mated to a six-speed manual and a nine-speed automatic transmission. It will be available in 2WD as well as 4WD options.

The MG Gloster comes with two diesel options with different tunings. The lower trim of this car runs on a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel unit that makes 161bhp & 375Nm of torque with the 2WD option. The higher trim gets a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine that makes 215bhp & 480Nm of torque and is available with the 4WD option. Both engines get an eight-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox.

Features

The Jeep Meridian will come loaded with modern features. It will get features like a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch infotainment system, wireless charging, driving modes, a 360-degree parking camera, six airbags, a powered tailgate, and a nine-speaker Alpine sound system.

The MG Gloster is also a feature-loaded SUV in its segment. It gets a 12.28-inches infotainment system and an 8.0-inch instrument cluster. It also gets ADAS features like Driver Fatigue Reminder System, Blind Spot Detection, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and park assist. For comfort and convenience, it gets 12-ways electronically adjustable driving seats, ventilated & heated front seats, driver massage seats, a 12-speaker sound system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Meridian VS Gloster – Prices

Jeep has not yet unveiled its pricing for the Meridian. We expect that the prices might range between Rs 28 lakhs to Rs 32 lakhs (ex-showroom). The base variant of the MG Gloster starts at Rs 38.44 lakhs and the top trim goes up to Rs 48.05 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai).

The Jeep Meridian can be a perfect pick if it is priced well. It can be an affordable seven-seater full-size SUV alternative in its segment. If you have a tight budget, this could be a good choice. But if you don’t have any budget issues, the MG Gloster is a great product in itself. It has more features and is the biggest SUV.
