Maruti Jimny Five Door – What do we know so far?
We all have been eagerly waiting for the Maruti Jimny for a long time now. We also know that Maruti will bring a five-door version of Jimny to India as it makes this car more practical and family-oriented for buyers in the Indian market. In this article, we will discuss the Maruti Jimny five door version and things we know so far about this new car.
Maruti Jimny Five Door Design
The Jimny will be built on a ladder frame design giving it some serious off-roading capabilities. The five-door version of Jimny will look similar to the current three-door version which is sold in the overseas markets. We also know the dimensions would be about 3850mm in length, 1645mm in width, and 1730mm in height. The off-roader will get a 2550mm long wheelbase and will have a ground clearance of 210mm.
Engine
The five-door version of Jimny will get Maruti’s K15B petrol engine that is currently seen in Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz & S-Cross. This K15B engine will produce around 101bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. This engine will come with a five-speed manual transmission and an optional four-speed automatic transmission. It is also said that the five-door version of Jimny will not be offered in the 4×4 option as this would increase its cost. Maruti is trying to offer an off-roader-looking car at the price of an SUV or a premium sedan. However, Maruti could later introduce a 4×4 variant depending on the demand for such a variant.

The Jimny five-door version is expected to come loaded with features like a basic touchscreen infotainment system, brake limited-slip differential, hill descent control, hill hold, dual airbags, ABS+EBD, LED projector headlamps, and indicators.
Pricing
We are expecting Maruti to launch the Jimny in the price range of Rs 8 to Rs 12 Lakh. The car is expected to be launched around the first half of 2022. The Jimny will be directly competing with the Mahindra Thar. As both Jimny and Thar are considered to be good off-roaders it’s going to be an interesting battle between these two cars.
