The owner has removed the original grille and replaced it with a much aggressive-looking piano-black finished grille. The grille now entails the headlamps, with a part of the grille resembling the eyebrows and the headlights resembling the eyes. The whole setup is giving the Thar an angry face. Also, the bonnet is given an extension that completes the new look. The front bumper has also been changed to an metal bumper that is more off-road focused.

All the above changes do give this Thar a fresh look, however, the biggest of the changes done to the car is the addition of 315/75 R16 RADAR RENEGADE M/T wheels. For comparison, the first-generation Thar sat on 235/70 R16 wheels. These wheels have been set on steel rims. The combination of such huge tyres with old-school rims does give it the raw appeal.

What did the original first-generation Thar get?

Mahindra Thar

The Mahindra Thar, in its second generation, has gotten very modern from the inside as well as the outside, however. the original Thar was also a beast in itself. The car came powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine that was capable of producing 105bhp and 247Nm of torque. This diesel unit was mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Thar might not have been very attractive to look at from the inside, however, its off-roading capabilities overshadowed its basic interior appeal.
