Hero has been hitting chart busters with their commuter segment across India. Now they have decided to introduce the Duet. The Maestro with its normal tune and Pleasure not hitting the right note, let us see how the tune of the Duet flows. This is also an all new scooter and it has With a lot of attention to detail lets us check the features, specifications, variants, design and mileage that the Hero Duet has to offer.

Hero Duet Price in India

City Price (on-Road)
Delhi INR 67,600
Mumbai INR 66,873
Pune INR 60,957
Bangalore INR 62,000
Ahmedabad INR 62,500
Surat INR 64,000
Hyderabad INR 67,200
Kolkata INR 68,000
Bhopal INR 64,092

The pricing is slightly on the higher side as compared to likes of scooters from other brands. But is still lesser as it is one of the few scooters with a metal body.

Hero Duet Top Speed

It achieves a top speed of 85km/hr. But unlike other scooters the Duet is quite stable. Lets us take time and thank the metal body for adding a bit of weight for stability. Though the time to reach 85km/hr after 70km/hr is a drag.

Hero Duet Design

Hero Duet 03

If we start from the front, the Duet is more like an opera in reverse, it starts off on a really loud and high note. The huge headlamps and indicators should be visible to audiances at a distance. The Chrome V in front adds a nice subtle touch, somehow the red on the mirrors screeches loud as the bike I had was red, may be it is the colour. The black, blue or grey would set a smooth sail.

The Duet and Strip made of chrome on the side are classy and the sharp line blends nicely like a partial fin into the rear. The exhaust looks as a part of the wheel cover. I guess hero decided to go all out on the lights as even the tail lamp and indicators are massive. The grab rail with a small carrier at the back add a bit of practicality. The icing on the cake is that you don’t have to get off your bike to fill fuel. The nozzle is placed behind the seat.  So I mentioned in the beginning hero has paid a lot of attention to detail.

Hero Duet Aesthetics

The launch of the Duet and the Maestro Edge took place at the same time. Both the scooters are different in design and styling but have the same engine. The Duet has a sleek design that is more similar to the Activa styling. In terms of aesthetics, the Duet doesn’t get the frills like the Maestro Edge. It is a more affordable scooter than the Maestro Edge. Hero Duet comes in two variants and top model. It does get more features though,  like USB charging port, rear luggage hook, under seat luggage lamp. These make the Hero Duet a good option to consider. The seating position is comfortable. The quality of plastic is as good as the Honda Activa 3G, but the Maestro Edge has better finish.

Hero Duet Engine and Specifications

Engine 110.9cc
Power 8.31bhp
Torque 8.30Nm
Transmission Automatic variomatic drive
Bore 50mm
Stroke 56.5mm
Starter self start

The engine on the Hero Duet is an 110.9cc single-cylinder air-cooled that makes 8bhp of power and 8.3Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine like that on the Maestro Edge. The engine response is good and it scoots away at the twist of the throttle. The power is sufficient and this is a perfect commuter scooter and more of personal scooter than the Maestro Edge. One can easily cruise at 40-45km/hr, which makes it a great deal to ride.

Hero Duet Mileage

Types OF Area Mileage
City 45 km/l
Highway  50 km/l
Hero Claimed 63 km/l
Fuel tank 5.5-litre
Fuel Range 300 km approx.

With a metal body the bike still manages to weigh 115 kgs. Hero have balanced this weight in a well distributed way. The Gear box is gradual and seamless, and the engine does not seem stressed out. The mileage Hero is claiming on a scooter is applause worthy. Only further tests shall state facts. The 5.5 ltr fuel tank too is quite generous, I have been pinching myself to believe the fuel range for a scooter.

Hero Duet Features

The Duet LX gets front luggage hook, while the rear is optional. Analog metre console and not digital. The other optional features are mobile charging port, boot light, side stand indicator, side stand and glove box. There is no service reminder on the LX. Hero Duet VX gets all the optional features as standard and the metre console is digital.

Hero Duet Colours

The Duet comes in Candy Blazing Red, Pearl Silver White, Grace Grey, Matte Vernier Grey, Nature Green and Panther Black.

Hero Duet Suspension

The Duet is a good scooter to consider for city riding, unless you have the extra bucks to buy the Maestro Edge. For a commuter segment, this is the scooter to pick. The Maestro Edge is more comfortable because of larger wheels, but the Duet too with its supple ride is a good option, and a better value for  money too. Also, it gets a metal body so is perceived to be more resistant to body damage.
