2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara – Will battle Hyundai’s 7-seater Creta

The Maruti Vitara will be the Creta fighter from Maruti. The new Maruti Vitara SUV will be positioned above the Vitara Brezza. This SUV is bigger than the Vitara Brezza in size and is also more spacious inside. Most importantly this car will be taking on the Hyundai Creta 7 seater. The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara will be a fierce competitor to the Hyundai Creta. Maruti will try and price this car in the regular 5 seater Creta’s price range and make it a bit more competitive for Hyundai when they get the new 7 seater version of the Creta. The Korean maker will see a major challenger now in this segment. The Vitara Brezza is the best selling SUV in India and Maruti would want the Vitara also to be the best seller. It will be interesting to see this battle. Which is why we think that the car will be sold through Nexa dealerships which are more premium.

The Maruti S-Cross is actually Maruti’s natural competitor for the Creta, but the Creta is better in terms of engine options and features. It is also bigger in size and has a better road presence. Despite a recent facelift, the S-Cross is not selling expected volumes. It has got more crossover looks than a proper SUV and that may be a turn-off for many buyers.  The S-Cross will continue to sell, but its crossover image will remain. The Vitara, on the other hand, would be a proper SUV in comparison. The pricing also would be more premium as compared to the S-Cross. The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara will come with new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, to take on the 7-seater Creta. It is likely to be sold from the Nexa experience showrooms.

2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Price in India

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara will be priced between 11 lakh and 15 lakhs. This will make it a competitive SUV. Maruti will take care of pricing it around the Creta or even undercutting it, variant to variant. It shall also offer a lot of features at this price. Once launched, this would be the most expensive car Maruti will see in India after the doomed Kizashi.

2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Launch Date

The New Maruti Vitara will be launched by late  2019 and will be premiered at the 2020 Auto Expo. This SUV will compete directly against the Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and other upcoming SUVs in that segment. When launched the car will be sold through the premium Nexa dealerships of the manufacturer.

2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara India Design 

The new Maruti Vitara is base on the XA Alpha concept showcased by Maruti a few years back. The new Vitara is more than 4 meters in length.  This will obviously be longer to accommodate 7 seats in the cabin plus a sizeable boot. It features a sharp looking front fascia. The grille reminds us of a twin blade shaving razor. The headlamps are sleek and the facia has a pleasant and modern look. The bonnet is a clamshell type one. From the side, the SUV resembles the Creta to an extent, but it looks bigger. There is a prominent shoulder line and the rear fender is flared up, to give a muscular appearance. The rear portion reminds us of the S-Cross a bit. It does have similarities with the Vitara Brezza too, but this SUV looks way more premium.

2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara Interior

The interior of the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Vitara SUV will be modern but simple. There will not be too much drama and it will be functional. There are 2 AC vents at the top center of the dashboard, with a clock in the center.

These are round ones. The steering is the same one seen on the Vitara Brezza. The instrument cluster is a simple affair too, with 2 dials and a driver info screen in the center. The center has a touchscreen fitted, similar to the Brezza. The dashboard has a two-tone effect. Space is where this car will be keen to show off. The Vitara will have to show that it can be a proper 7 seater and make 7 passengers happy or at least 5 adults and 2 children. The boot will also have configurable with more than sufficient storage space. The car’s seats will all need to have a flat-folding option with a 50:50 or 60:40 split in place.

As compared to the S-Cross, the interiors will have a richer feel. The top variant will have a leather trim, which is of superior quality.

We wish the steering wheel of the Vitara would be a new one. The one seen in the pic is the same as the one found in many Maruti cars. It would make the car more premium.
