The 2019 Maruti Baleno is in the works. The Baleno was the car which gave the premium hatchback segment a boost. While being spacious and feature loaded, it is economical as well. The Baleno has an impressive road presence and is large in size. The interiors are also roomy and feel quite airy. The Baleno is Maruti’s premium offering, hence it is sold from Nexa Experience showrooms. When the Baleno was in its production stage, we were the first to share its images, way back in November 2014. The car was codenamed ‘YRA’ then.  The facelift of the Baleno will mark three years of its launch. This time it is expected to get a new 1.5-litre petrol with a new six-speed gearbox. This will be a major leap for the car.

The Maruti Baleno has turned out to be an aspirational car for buyers. It is a good combination of performance and fuel efficiency. Along with that is the reliability of the Maruti brand. The 2019 Maruti Baleno will also be priced aggressively, just like the existing car.  It will cost between ₹ 5.8 lakhs and ₹ 10 lakhs (on-road, Delhi). The hatchback will get a few more features. Styling will be tweaked. The new Maruti Baleno will be exported to European markets, apart from being sold in India.

The Maruti Baleno is a very fuel efficient car. For the petrol engine, it will return about 13 km/l in the city and about 16km/l on the highway. The 2019 Maruti Baleno CVT will return 11 km/l in the city and about 14km/l on the highway. The diesel engine, will return close to 16 km/l in the city and about 19 km/l on the highway. The car is built on a lighter platform thus has a major weight reduction, which results in better fuel efficiency.

There will not be any changes in the dimensions of the car. It will be identical to the current model. The Baleno is a spacious hatchback and offers good road presence too.

There are also speculations that there will be a new 1.5-litre engine introduced in the Baleno facelift. This engine is developed by Suzuki and will also power other cars like the new Ertiga and Ciaz. A new six-speed transmission will also make it to the car in all probability.

2019 Maruti Baleno Interiors

The 2019 Maruti Baleno will not have any major change in the interiors. The basic black theme will continue to be there. A new upholstery will be seen this time. The seat fabrics and leather on the higher variants will be revised. The top end variant will get new leather seats too. The leather on the steering wheel and gear knobs will be of better quality. The steering wheel also might see a change. The dashboard layout will be the same. There will be a more advance touchscreen audio system in place. It will have Car Play and Android Auto additionally, it will also be able to connect with various apps to control few features of the car.

The 2019 Maruti Baleno will also get rear AC vents which will also have blower control. There will also be fast charging USB ports available for the rear passengers. Maruti may also enhance the seat cushions for better comfort. There will be no change in the head room or leg room. It will continue to be a spacious car.

2019 Maruti Baleno Design

The Maruti Baleno 2019 will retain its basic design. It will get a minor facelift in 2019. Baleno is a relatively new model, globally. Hence the same platform and design will continue at least till 2023. Cosmetic changes will be done to the car, though, to bring in some freshness. It will get a new front end. This includes a new front grille, which will look sportier. The headlamps will also have new projectors and will probably have better illumination. The LED daytime running lights also will be in a new shape, embedded within the headlamp assembly.

There will be change from the side, but it will get new alloy wheels and also new wheel covers for lower variants. The  front and rear bumpers will be redesigned and look sharper. The rear will not see any much change, except that it will have new taillamps.

2019 Maruti Baleno Model Engine

The engines of the 2019 Maruti Baleno will remain the same and there will be no change in them. These are a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel. Both will be offered with five-speed manual, while the petrol will continue to have the CVT option too. The petrol engine will have great performance, complimented by the light weight of the car. The performance of the petrol engine is currently the best in its segment. The engine is highly refined and it has good power power on offer too. At the same time, this engine packs in generous torque too. There will an option of the Baleno RS too which has a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. This will be aimed at enthusiastic drivers who like performance cars.

The Maruti Baleno diesel is a 1.3-litre unit which will produce 75bhp of power. It will get a five-speed manual gearbox. This is very competitive engine and Maruti would like to continue with it.  With the lower weight of the car, it performs well too and is fuel efficient. There are also rumors about a new 1.5-litre diesel unit making its way in to the Baleno. If so, this will replace the 1.3-litre, Fiat-sourced engine.

  1. Need rear AC… Sliding armrest in front seats like elite i20… rear seat armrest… and cover for under the engine space…

  2. Improving ground clearance for the Facelift Baleno would be great and please improve the smoothness especially for the rear passengers as there seems to be a vibration or roughness.

Kindly release the Baleno Facelift with rear AC, Android auto play, Leather Seats, retaining the best mileage in the segment, LED rear lamp and rear fog lamp, Halogen head light as a minimum requirement in 2018 to be the segment leader in India.   4. Baleno Facelift???…..It is too premature to comment on this….Maruti cannot even bring out a petrol variant ot Brezza ……Now what is the fun in a facelift……for Baleno??

  5. Why not baleno launch new model with 180 to 190mm ground clearance?

    I like baleno model but due to low ground clearence I am confused to buy this
