The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the highest selling compact SUV in India. It was the company’s strategy to introduce the Vitara Brezza in diesel only and the gamble has been paying off as the car is a segment killer ever since it came. But having more feathers in your hat is not a bad thing and today many buyers are opting for the petrol offerings from its competitors that come in both Petrol Automatic and Diesel Automatic versions. With cars like the Hyundai Venue now dominating the segment, Maruti will have to get the 1.5-litre petrol engine with an automatic gearbox soon for the Brezza. The petrol automatic variant will be a good option for those who mainly drive in the city and Maruti petrol engines have always been strong sellers. The Maruti Brezza petrol will make the SUV more affordable and when coupled with options like sunroof, cruise control and an SHVS system it will be very good. The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol is expected to be launched during or around the 2020 Auto Expo. There is still no confirmed date for this launch. Buyers will have more options after this is introduced. This new petrol engine powered SUV will be manufactured in Gujarat. Maruti will also export this SUV to other countries in South-East Asia. The Gujarat plant is owned by Suzuki and not Maruti Suzuki. It will be interesting to see how the company copes with the demand and production of Brezza petrol.

The Brezza sells high numbers and the introduction of a petrol version will be beneficial. The petrol variant will lower the price of the Brezza. It will bring down the ex-showroom price under ₹7 lakhs. This is going to be a win-win situation for Maruti. A petrol Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol would most likely become the cheapest SUV after the Tata Nexon or at least eat into its sales. The petrol engines from Maruti are always fuel-efficient. The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol mileage is expected to be about 12-13km/l in the city and it will be about 17km/l on the highway. This is great mileage for a petrol-powered SUV. At the same time, the Maruti Brezza petrol AMT should return 11km/l in the city and close to 17km/l on the highway.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine will churn about 104bhp of power and close to 138Nm of maximum torque. This is the new K15 engine we saw in the Ciaz and Ertiga. This should be more than sufficient to drive. It will be quieter. The petrol engine should come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The petrol engine should have more power than the diesel engine. The Brezza petrol will have not only have better outright performance but will even be great for daily city driving. It will also be more economical in its return. The automatic that might be offered will be the CVTs, one of the newly launched Ciaz gearboxes. An AMT unit that is used throughout the Maruti lineup will be an easy application too.
There were rumors that the Brezza will be getting a 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine, but this won’t happen for the Indian car market. Maruti will stick to the regular 1.5-litre petrol and maybe turbo it like the XUV300 to keep the costs low. The Brezza petrol will not get the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine. We do think that SHVS could make it to this car. The engine start-stop function in traffic to save fuel is a good idea.

The new Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol will come in six color options. These are –
The top model ZXi+ will come with dual tone color option as well. It will also get wider tyres.
We reckon now the petrol engine on the Brezza will come in after the facelift. The Ciaz facelift will be getting this new petrol engine and so will the Brezza. This new engine will mean minor cosmetic changes to the Vitara Brezza. Of course, the facelift changes will be made on the diesel engine as well. Maruti will be changing the front grille of this compact SUV and there shall be a minor tweak in its headlamps too. There will be daytime running LEDs, new stylish front grille and it will be redesigned front bumper.
When viewed from the side, it will get the new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels. This will make the Vitara Brezza appealing. The rear also looks stylish and appealing. This makes the Brezza an attractive offering with the new petrol engine on offer.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza will get automatic petrol too. There will be a four-speed automatic on offer. This will make it an exciting package for the Indian audience. The Brezza petrol will get the same set-up like the Ertiga and the Ciaz. Both of them will make it into a great package. this will be coming with a smart hybrid technology. This product will help Maruti to reduce the price of the Brezza. This should increase the sales of this compact SUV.

Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and the Ford Ecosport were the three biggest threats for the Maruti Brezza petrol. The Honda WR-V has been gaining a good amount of market share. But the biggest problem will be the Hyundai Venue. The Hyundai is the new entrant and it has been getting a good push for its petrol engine and features on offer. From the Tiago, Tata has gotten a good number of petrol engine buyers and the same continues on the Tigor too. The Nexon might be the third product that should have good sales of petrol engine too.
