The SUV might be priced from Rs 8 lakhs which will be towards the cheaper side of the segment. Renault will like to keep 2 or three more variants which will make the cars top variant cross into Rs 12 lakhs (ex-showroom). Because the Duster which is a 5 seater SUV by Renault is also priced from Rs 8 lakhs.

Renault Rs 8 Lakh SUV Specifications

The engine of this vehicle will be borrowed from the Renault Triber. This engine is called the Energy engine. It is a 1.0-litre unit which produces a power of 73bhp and a torque of 96 Nm. This engine is a BS6 petrol engine. There will be a diesel engine offered on this vehicle. The diesel engine which will be introduced on this product will be used in other cars in a varied state of tune in the rest of the Renault line up. This engine will be brought in after the BS6 norms come into effect.

The car should get a five-speed gearbox and an AMT unit from the launch itself. We will see the diesel variant come in much later.

The interiors where this vehicle will shine. There might be the use of hard plastic for cost-cutting purposes as well as there will some cutting down of fancy bits. Talking about the exteriors the vehicle will have split headlamps. The Headlamps will be placed below the LED daytime running lights. The grill of the vehicle is wide and it sports a big logo. This looks bold on the Kwid but will just be appropriate on this vehicle because of its size and stance. The compact SUV will get small wheels as 15 inches on the lower variants and could also get segment-best options of 17-inches. These will be really small for an SUV. Moreover, the lower variants will get steel wheels. The option of alloy wheels will be on mid and top variants only. From the rear, this will get Renault styling similar to its cousins – the Captur and the Duster. The SUV will have a floating roof design and the wheel arches will be squared as this is the trend for this year.

The safety of the vehicle will increase variant wise. The lowest variant will get just two airbags and the top variant could have as much six airbags that are available in other cars in the segment. There will be ABS but the electronic brake distribution will be skipped on the lower variants. Another thing about safety is the structure and platform. The platform will be highly strong and tensile. This is really important during a crash and hence the vehicle will be designed such that it will be safe during extreme scenarios preventing damage which is very severe. 

The car will be built on the CMF-A platform which will ensure safety and better structural rigidity to the car.

Renault has planned this vehicle to compete with the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford Eco Sport and XUV 300.
