Tata Harrier/Safari

Currently, the Harrier and Safari duo are the cars with the highest score in Child Occupant Protection. Both of them scored 45 out of 49 points in the Child Occupant Protection. In the reports, GNCAP stated that both the cars were able to prevent head exposure in frontal impact offering full protection. Harrier and Safari were also tested by BNCAP scoring 44.54 out of 49 points in Child occupant protection. Safety features include ADAS with 11 features, 7 airbags, 3-point seatbelts for all occupants, all-wheel disc brakes, front fog lamps with cornering, front parking sensors, advanced ESP and blind view monitoring. Pricing of the Harrier starts from Rs 18.75 lakh and goes to Rs 32.01 lakh, while Safari starts from Rs 19.58 lakh and goes to Rs 33.09 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Another duo of safe cars is the Virtus and Slavia. Both the sedans scored 42 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. Like other cars on the list, it prevented head exposure during the frontal impact offering full protection. Safety feature-wise, both sedans come with electronic stability control, brake disc wiping, 6 airbags, hill hold control, and more. Pricing of the Virtus starts from Rs 13.68 lakh and goes to Rs 22.98 lakh, while Slavia starts from Rs 13.59 lakh and goes to Rs 22.65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Volkswagen Taigun/Skoda Kushaq

Following the sedans are their SUV cousins in the form of taigun and Kushaq. Both SUVs were the first cars to score a perfect 5-star in the newer protocols of GNCAP. In the Child Occupant Protection tests, it scored 42 out of 49 points. It was able to prevent head exposure during the frontal impact offering full protection. Safety feature-wise, both SUVs come with electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes + Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, traction controls and 6-airbags. Pricing of the Taigun starts from Rs 13.84 lakh and goes to Rs 23.65 lakh, while Kushaq starts from Rs 14 lakh and goes to Rs 24.09 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

The Verna holds the distinction of being Hyundai’s first 5-star rated car in India. It scored a 5-star rating even in Child Occupant Protection. In Child Occupant Protection, it scored 42 out of 49 points. The report stated that the sedan prevented head exposure during frontal impact offering full protection. The Verna comes standard safety features like with 6 airbags, all 3-point seatbelts, seat belt reminder (all seats), rear defogger, ISOFIX, and emergency stop signal. Other safety features include ESC with VSM, hill start assist control, all disc brakes, Electronic parking brake, TPMS etc. There is also level-2 ADAS on the higher variants offering an extra layer of protection. Pricing of the Verna starts from Rs 13.04 lakh and goes to Rs 20.65 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
