News of Ford making a comeback in India has surely excited a lot of fans. Ford fans are especially excited for the comeback of Endeavour in the country. However, before the Endeavour we could see a new rival to it and no it’s not the Fortuner facelift. It is an all-new car in the form of a Nissan X-Trail. So, is it coming this year? Let’s find out.

Launch and pricing

Nissan X-Trail

The X-Trail was expected to be launched in 2023, but that clearly didn’t happen. According to our sources, Nissan could launch the X-Trail by the end of 2024. Hopefully, this time Nissan doesn’t back out as the X-Trail does look like quite a competent product. What about pricing? Nissan hasn’t confirmed whether the X-Trail will be a CBU or a CKD model. Still, we think the pricing of the X-Trail could be well above the Rs 50 lakh mark (on-road, Mumbai). This pricing would pit it squarely against the Endeavour, which is also expected to initially come through the CBU route.

Nissan X-Trail – Design

In 2023, Nissan showcased the 4th generation X-Trail in India. This 4th generation X-trail is based on the new CMF-C platform (common module family), co-developed by Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi. Talking about design, the X-Trail is a smart-looking car with the brand’s V-Motion grille. In the USA, Nissan unveiled the facelifted model, but it remains to be seen which one Nissan brings to India.

Globally, the X-Trail comes with a single 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine in different hybrid setups. These hybrid setups include a mild hybrid one, a 2WD e-power variant’ and an ‘e4orce version’ with ‘e-power’. The mild hybrid setup makes 188bhp and 250Nm of torque, the 2WD makes 201bhp and 330Nm of torque. The most powerful option is the ‘e4orce version’ which produces 210bhp and 525Nm of torque. The transmission options are only limited to a CVT gearbox.

Nissan X-Trail – Interior

Nissan X-Trail

The X-Trail is one of Nissan’s premium cars in its global lineup, and it shows in the interior. Nissan has used soft touch material at all the major touchpoints and more. What about features? It comes with features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, electronic parking brake, auto hold, driving modes, ADAS, panoramic sunroof, etc. It does have more features than the Fortuner, but it is not a big achievement considering even Rs 20 lakh cars have more features than the Fortuner. In comparison, the new Endeavour and X-Trail are quite close in terms of features.
