Rs 16 lakh SUV Coming Back With Mercedes Engine

What if we tell you that the upcoming Hyundai Creta rival will be coming with a Mercedes Benz engine? Yes, that’s completely true! We are talking about the new Renault Duster which will come with a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine from Mercedes. The SUV is set to launch very soon and today we have the confirmed engine specifications of the Renault Duster.

New Renault Duster – Engine Specifications

Globally, the Renault Duster or the Dacia Duster is available with three engine options – 1.0-litre turbo petrol, 1.3-litre turbo petrol, and 1.2-litre plug-in hybrid engine. Out of these, the plug-in hybrid engine will likely not come to India. Talking about other engine options, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 120bhp of power. It is the same engine which also powers the Renault Kiger but with a different state of tune for the Duster. 

Next, we have the famous 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine which also powers the Mercedes A-Class sedan. For Mercedes, the engine produces 168bhp of power but for the Duster it has been detuned to produce 156bhp. Now this is not the first time for the Duster as before discontinuation, Renault had introduced this engine in India. Finally, we also have the option for a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and CVT gearboxes.

Overview 

Apart from the engine specifications, we have all the details of the Renault Duster. It gets a complete design overhaul and it now has more SUVish appeal than before. The headlamps, bumpers, tail lamps, and alloy wheels are all new. Also, the rear door handles are placed on the pillars like the Maruti Swift. The interiors are also all new and are designed to offer maximum practicality.

The dashboard is dominated by a 10.1-inch touchscreen system and has some smart touches and storage areas. Also, the entire centre console is tilted towards the driver to make the access very easy. In terms of features, the new Renault Duster will come equipped with 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, 6-speakers Arkamys 3D sound system, and electronic parking brake. Globally, the SUV is offered with ADAS and so it will be interesting to see if Renault offers ADAS for Duster in India.

New Renault Duster – Launch & Price

Talking about the launch timeline, we are expecting Renault to launch the Duster by mid-2025. Price wise, Renault will try to undercut the current segment leader, Hyundai Creta. We can expect a price tag of Rs 12.50 lakh to Rs 22.75 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
