Currently, no MPV comes near the Ertiga in terms of sales figures. Several manufacturers have tried dethroning it but with limited success. Now MG is also going to try out its luck, but by taking a different approach by bringing an electric MPV. Currently, there are no electric 7-seaters in India and MG could start off this segment. This new electric 7-seater from MG has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Let’s talk about this new Maruti Ertiga rival.

Last month, media reports stated that MG was working on bringing an electric MPV based on the Wuling Cloud EV sold in Indonesia. Now this Cloud EV has been spotted testing in India for the first time. In the spy shots, we can see the heavily camouflaged car. The overall silhouette perfectly matches the Wuling Cloud EV. On the test mule, we can see pearl-shaped tail lamps and petal-shaped alloy wheels.

What do we know so far?

The Wuling Cloud EV is sold in Indonesia. Dimension-wise, the Cloud is 4,295mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,652mm in height. It sits on a wheelbase of 2,700mm. Overall the dimensions are almost identical to the Ertiga. In Indonesia, the Cloud EV comes with a 134bhp motor paired with a 50.6kWh. In India, we could expect something similar. The overall design of the Cloud EV is expected to remain the same, but we could see an MG logo at the front and a few tweaks.

According to media reports, MG plans to launch the electric MPV within a year probably before March 2025. Considering the car is just a rebadge of the Wuling Cloud EV, we expect MG to stick to this timeline. What about the pricing? The price of the Cloud EV is expected to start from Rs 12 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
