Mahindra Thar 5-door Spotted Again – New Details Revealed 

Mahindra Thar 5-door is one of the most anticipated SUV to be launched in 2024. We have spotted the SUV multiple times which has revealed key design highlights. Even the interiors were spotted which revealed new elements on the inside. Now in a recent instance, we have a new set of spy shots of the Thar 5-door which shows some interesting design bits.

Mahindra Thar 5-door – What’s New?

The most evident design highlight of the Thar 5-door are the door handles. Upon looking closely, you can notice that rear door handles are not placed on the doors. In fact they have been positioned on the C-pillars as seen on cars like the Maruti Swift. The front grille is also different and gets an H-style pattern with split treatment. Also, if we look at the front windshield closely, we can see placement which could likely be for rain sensing wipers. The rear looks more or less the same as before but the production model could get a roof mounted spoiler with rear wiper tucked underneath.

Features

Currently, Mahindra Thar lacks even some basic features like automatic climate control. However, the Thar 5-door could be loaded with features like any other Mahindra SUV. We can expect features like automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, wireless charging pad, rear AC vents, connected car technology & more. Also, as seen on the spy photos, the Thar 5-door will likely get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen system and Mahindra XUV700-like steering wheel. 

Mahindra Thar 5-door – Engine Specifications 

With the added weight, the Thar 5-door will need a more powerful engine tune. It will continue with the 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. However, we expect power figures similar to the Scorpio-N. The petrol engine could be able to produce 200bhp and 370Nm of torque. While the diesel engine could be able to produce 172bhp and 370Nm of torque. Transmission options should include manual and automatic gearboxes. The Thar 5-door could come with 4×2 and 4×4 options.

Launch & Pricing

The design of Mahindra Thar 5-door has evolved from time to time and it looks to be close to production ready version. That said, the SUV could be unveiled in August 2024 and could hit showrooms before the festive season. What about the pricing? The Thar 5-door could start from Rs 18 lakh and go to Rs 23 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
