Affordable cars – Maruti Jimny – 322 units

Affordable cars

Starting with the most hyped launch of 2023, the Maruti Jimny. In February Maruti dispatched only 322 units of the Jimny. The Jimny has been plagued due to its high price and smaller dimensions compared to its biggest rival Thar. But, as a product, the Jimny is quite capable and can even go toe to toe with some expensive off-roaders like Land Rover Defender and Mercedes G-Wagon. Currently, the pricing of the Jimny starts from Rs 14.91 lakh and goes to Rs 17.47 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Maruti S-Presso – 3,059 units

Another Maruti car on this list is the S-Presso. The S-Presso is Maruti’s entry-level hatchback, and it is kind of surprising that it sells so less. In February, Maruti sold 3,059 units of S-Presso. The S-Presso is a decent product but is often ridiculed for its design. Its main USP is its 1.0-litre petrol engine capable of producing 66bhp & 89Nm of torque. Transmission options include a manual and an AMT. Pricing of the S-Presso starts from Rs 5.04 lakh and goes to Rs 7.03 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Affordable cars – Tata Tigor – 1,712 units

The Tata car on the list is its compact sedan, the Tigor. Tigor is currently the least-selling Tata car, and it makes sense considering it is the only sedan in its lineup. In February, Tata sold 1,712 units of the Tigor almost half the dispatches of Fortuner. Talking about the Tigor, it is a well-packaged product with a high safety score and decent features. It also comes with the twin-cylinder CNG option that gives it a usable boot space. Pricing of the Tigor starts from Rs 7.47 lakh and goes to Rs 10.80 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Honda Amaze – 2,774 units

Affordable cars

The Honda Amaze is one of Honda’s best-selling cars. Of late, the Elevate has overtaken it in sales, but still, the Amaze remains a volume puller for Honda. In February, Honda sold 2,774 units of the Amaze. A reason for the low sales of Amaze could be its upcoming new-gen model in the second half of 2024. Currently, the Honda Amaze starts from Rs 8.44 lakh and goes to Rs 11.64 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Affordable cars – Citroen C3 – 211 units

Affordable cars

Citroen is struggling in India as seen from the sales numbers. Its most affordable option, the C3 hatchback, could manage only 211 dispatches in February 2024. Citroen is trying to improve its sales by offering more features, which it should have done at the launch. However, the recent 0-star rating should affect its sales even further. We have listed the C3 here, but the sales of other Citroen are also not a whole lot better with the eC3 and C3 Aircross raking sales even below 200.
