Sedan sales as a whole are on a downward trend, but still, sales of compact sedans are quite good. This is mostly due to the high sales of Maruti Dzire, but the Tata Tigor and Hyundai Aura do decent enough sales. Currently, the Tigor is the oldest car in this segment. According to reports, Tata is working on the new-gen model of the Tigor. So what could Tata upgrade? In today’s article, let’s talk about the new-gen Tata Tigor.

Things we know

The details of the new Tigor are quite sparse for now. Recently, there has been some industry chatter suggesting that Tata is indeed working on the new-gen models. It makes sense as the Tigor is at the end of its life cycle and will soon start to feel outdated. Also, Tata wants to achieve a 5-star rating on the Tigor/Tiago, making it the only manufacturer with all 5-star rated cars. To achieve this, Tata will be looking to give the Tiago/Tigor 6-airbags to achieve this 5-star rating.

New Tata Tigor – Other details

New Tata Tigor

One almost certain thing is that the new-gen model will be based on the ALFA arc platform like the Altroz. This will help Tata streamline all of its affordable cars on the same platform. Along with the newer platform, we could also see a new design with a new grille, LED headlamps and updated bumpers. In the interiors, we could see a new dashboard layout with new features like a bigger infotainment system, a new instrument cluster, better upholstery, rear AC vents, etc.

Specifications

The new-generation Tigor should most probably continue with the current 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed MT and AMT gearbox. Tata could tweak the performance a bit on the new-gen model. It should also continue to get the CNG option with the brand’s famed twin-cylinder technology that makes the boot quite useable.

New Tata Tigor – Launch

New Tata Tigor

Tata is currently working on a plethora of new models like the Curvv, Harrier EV, etc. Currently, it hasn’t set a launch timeline for the new-gen Tigor, but it must have started its development. Considering all this, we can expect the new-gen Tiago sometime in 2025. Pricing-wise, we can expect a price hike of Rs 60k to 70k depending upon the variants.
