Citroen Basalt – Exterior

Citroen Basalt front

Upfront, the Basalt shares a lot of elements with the C3 Aircross SUV. It gets a similar headlamp setup which could be the projector halogen units. It gets the same Citroen family grille which can be seen on its other SUVs too. Finally, the bumpers and the skid plate on the front are also very similar to the C3 Aircross.

The difference however is visible on the side profile between the two. The C3 Aircross has a typical boxy design whereas the Basalt boasts a coupe-like SUV design. It gets a sloping roofline which makes the SUV look sporty. It sits on rather stylish, 17-inch alloy wheels above which runs gloss black claddings all around the SUV. Sadly, it continues to get the door handles from the entry level cars. Its upcoming rival Tata Curvv gets stylish Land Rover style door handles!

Citroen Basalt rear profile

Things get even more interesting when we come to the rear of the Basalt. The tail lamps of the Basalt have some resemblance to the C3 Aircross. They look stylish and add some character to the rear. What also adds character to the SUV is the rear bumper. It looks chunky and has a glossy black finish. And yes, the boot design has been done neatly with and should occupy decent luggage inside. We can see a shark fin antenna on the roof and surprisingly the SUV misses out a rear spoiler.

Features & Engine

The interior is yet to be revealed from Citroen but the spy shots we have received show the resemblance with the C3 Aircross. They look the same as the C3 Aircross with similar dashboard design and interior layout. Also expect a similar feature list from the C3 Aircross along with few additional features. It could also get the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine from the C3 Aircross which produces 109bhp & 190Nm of torque. This engine comes mated with a manual and torque converter automatic transmissions.
