Recalled units

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai has announced a voluntary recall for 7,698 units for the Creta and Verna. The recall is for the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol with CVT gearbox manufactured between 13th February 2023 to 6th June 2023. So what is wrong exactly? It is a potential issue in the electronic oil pump controller, which could hamper the performance of the electronic oil pump. Hyundai hasn’t stated if it is safe to drive with the faulty controller, but it is best to get your car inspected as early as possible.

Hyundai Creta – Recall procedure

Hyundai hasn’t revealed the exact procedure, but dealers are expected to individually contact customers of the affected vehicles. You can also contact your nearest dealership or customer care centre at 1800-114-645 to check if your Creta or Verna is included in the recall.

Seltos recall

Hyundai Creta

Recently, Creta’s sister car, the Seltos, was also recalled for a potential error in the electronic oil pump controller, which may affect the performance of the SUV’s CVT gearbox. So it seems like both the Creta and Seltos were affected by the same controller issue. The time frame given by Kia is also similar starting from 28th February to 13th July 2023. Overall car recalls are a normal thing. It just means that the manufacturer acknowledges the defect and has made efforts to rectify it. You get an improved product after a recall.
