Tata Nexon Spotted Testing – CNG Launch Soon?
Last year in 2023, Tata Motors launched the Nexon and Nexon EV facelifts. With the facelift, Tata upped the game for Nexon with some worthy upgrades. The Nexon does well in terms of sales and has been one of the best selling SUVs in India for a few months. Now after a few months of its launch, we have a fresh spy shot of the Nexon. So what could it be? Well, this could be exciting news for many as we are expecting it to be the Nexon CNG.

Tata Nexon CNG
In February 2024, Tata Motors unveiled India’s first turbo CNG car. It is the Nexon CNG which is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. The brand revealed the concept at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show and the launch is expected to happen in the second half of this year. That said, we had no news of the SUV but the fresh spy shots indicate the beginning of Nexon CNG road test.
Tata Nexon CNG – Specifications
The Nexon CNG will be powered by the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. For petrol, this engine produces 118bhp and 170Nm of peak torque. What about CNG? Well, the power output will be lesser for CNG but do not expect it to be a lot lesser, thanks to Tata’s iCNG technology. Also, it will be exciting to see what transmission options the Nexon CNG gets. Tata has recently launched India’s first AMT CNG and so, will the Nexon CNG get an option for automatic transmission?
What else to expect?
Other than the mechanicals, the Nexon turbo CNG will offer everything that regular Nexon offers. It is a handsome looking SUV which comes with Tata’s new design language. Even the interiors feel premium with the new displays and steering wheel. It gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen system, 2-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, and touch based AC controls. Features like ventilated front seats, sunroof, wireless smartphone charger, LED headlamps, & wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay will be seen on the CNG variant as well. Apart from that, expect Tata’s CNG specific features which take care of the safety. Also what’s unique about Tata CNG is that it can be turned on directly in the CNG mode.
Expected Price
Currently, Tata Nexon has been priced between Rs 9.60 lakh to Rs 19.08 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). For CNG, expect a similar price range as Tata Motors is known to offer CNG in their higher variants also. The SUV will likely launch in the second half of 2024 and once launched, it will be the second SUV in the segment to offer CNG after the Maruti Brezza CNG.
