Rated for a claimed mileage of 23.24 kmpl, this MPV offers a total driving range of 1208.38 km through its 52-litre fuel tank. Despite the class-leading fuel efficiency, the Innova Hycross offers spirited performance with 183 bhp and 206 Nm of peak power & torque. The large SUV completes the 0-100 kmph sprint in just under 14 seconds with 6 persons onboard.

Expect the Toyota Innova Hycross hybrid to return a real-world mileage of 16.10 kmpl.

Honda City Hybrid: 1084 km

India’s first car to break the 1000 km barrier, the Honda City e:HEV is the next car on the list. India’s first mass-market strong hybrid, the City Hybrid comes equipped with a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine that is rated for a claimed mileage of 27.1 kmpl. The popular sedan model offers a total driving range of 1084 km. Known for its contemporary design and class-leading safety; the Honda City is one of the longest-running nameplates in the Indian market.

Multiple tests of the Honda City hybrid have confirmed a real-world fuel economy of 21.13 kmpl.

Kia Sonet: 1080 km

The penultimate product on this list is the recently updated Kia Sonet. Available with petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engine options, the Sonet is the most feature-rich car in its segment. The most economical powertrain of the four-wheeler is the diesel manual which returns an ARAI claimed mileage of 24 kmpl. Equipped with a 45-litre fuel tank this car offers a total driving range of 1080 kmpl making it the cheapest and the most economical car in the budget segment.

In the real world, the 2024 Kia Sonet facelift diesel manual variant returns a mileage of 18.30 kmpl.

Tata Nexon: 1055 km

The last car to offer a 1000+ km range is India’s highest-selling SUV, the Tata Nexon. Like the Sonet, the Nexon is also offered in a variety of engine and gearbox combinations. But it’s the diesel automatic (AMT) variant of the Tata that offers the highest claimed mileage of 24 kmpl. Provided with a 44-litre tank, the Nexon delivers a total driving range of 1056 km making it a popular choice in the budget SUV segment.

While real-world fuel efficiency figures for the 2024 Nexon facelift are still unavailable, we expect the new model to return around 17 kmpl when tested.
